Both Cary Grant and James Stewart played leadingmen in multiple Alfred Hitchcock films. Which Hitchcockactor do you prefer?

Cary Grant's films:
1. Suspicion (1941)
2. Notorious (1946)
3. To Catch a Thief (1955)
4. North by Northwest (1959)

James Stewart's films:
1. Rope (1948)
2. Rear Window (1954)
3. The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
4. Vertigo (1958)

That's a very good question... both were extremely talented and had a charisma that no modern actors have that really connected you to their story... gonna have to say James Stewart, but they're both awesome.  :)

Hi asd2244 (AKA johnlalos96),

Welcome to the IMDb Poll message board. Thank you for your poll suggestion. Thank you also for including a properly working discussion link.

Generally, a short meaningful title is preferred over a long title. Please consider changing the title of your list (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls091063722/) from:
Face-Off: 'Cary Grant' vs. 'James Stewart' — Which "Alfred Hitchcock" actor do you like more? more"?

To:
Hitchcock Face-Off: Cary Grant vs. James Stewart

= = =

Please consider changing:
Which one of these two do you like more? Cary Grant or James
Stewart? Both have played in Hitchock's films. And both are considered great
too!

To:

I think Dan meant "Both Cary Grant and James Stewart played leading men in multiple Alfred Hitchcock films. Which Hitchcock actor do you prefer?" without the extra "actor" in the second sentence.

Ruby,

Yes, I intended only on "actor". I've corrected my statement to remove the extraneous word "actor".

Hi asd / John and welcome to the poll board. : )

This is a great idea for a face-off! If you make the couple of changes that Dan suggested (above), it will have a very good chance of "going live" (being published and becoming an actual poll that gets votes).

I would also suggest putting each list of movies under each actor's photo, respectively.

Dan, do you think the fact that the movies are in list form will cause a problem when this goes live? Sometimes lists seem to transfer well and are just fine but sometimes they get merged together and appear like "1. Vertigo2. Rear Window3..." (Whereas if they're listed going across with spaces between them, it's fine of course.)  Or am I remembering something else causing that problem?

Ruby and asd2244,

The poll software does a poor job of rendering numbered list.

One alternative is the approach that joesiegel uses in his poll IMDb Poll Board Top 5 Horror Movies for Halloween:

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls095435883/
Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/ak29CGggEQU/

For instance:

1_Suspicion (1941),
2_Notorious (1946),
3_To Catch a Thief (1955),
4_North by Northwest (1959)

... becomes:

1_Suspicion (1941), 2_Notorious (1946),  3_To Catch a Thief (1955), 4_North by Northwest (1959)

Alternately:

1_Suspicion (1941)

2_Notorious (1946)

3_To Catch a Thief (1955)

4_North by Northwest (1959)

... stays the same.

Oh and something more , what about my earlier poll suggestion about suspensful? Now you told me that this poll could go live on Friday? :D Oh my gosh I am very happy to hear that :D   I thought that polls take lonk to go live haha.. because else I had this idea since I made the previous poll suggestion and I would have made this one 2 months ago already haha. that's why I didn't do it.. So that means that my previous poll won't go live??

asd2244,

Thank you for making the changes that Ms. Rubyfruit and I recommended.

By the way, the poll admins give priority to helping new poll authors mature their poll suggestions. In your case, you had a very good concept and accepted suggestions quickly.

asd/John,

did you see what Dan posted above? Could you change the formatting of the lists so that it can go live for Friday? (Oh, and also remove the lists from the intro so the lists only appear once.)

Thanks. : )

If you'd ask me, I'd say James Steward. I guess a voting result of 66% to 80% for Stewart.
But Grant was unbeatable with Doris Day!
