The Dark Knight (2008) and Black Panther (2018) are the two superhero movies with the most Academy Award nominations. Which movie do you prefer?

I've seen The Dark Knight at most four times, and I've seen Black Panther exactly only once. I would be inclined to favor the latter, except I've not really afforded myself the opportunity to pick it apart and find things about it that require "too much" suspension of disbelief, or find other aspects that could be considered flaws. It may difficult to decide. Just as a side note, I definitely find Bruce Wayne in general and the old story of the wealthy orphan turned vigilante going back several decades ago to be more interesting than T'challa and what little I know of his role in the Marvel Comics stories of decades ago.

This is isn't a debate, The Dark Knight is a more film than Black Panther...
The Dark Knight is it's it no doubt the best superhero movie ever made... And one of the best movies of this Century.

It was the movie that the Oscars needed, but not deserved. So they didn't nominate it. Because the movie can take it, because it's not Oscar bait. It's an instant classic, the best superhero movie, it's The Dark Knight.

Total agreed. I think you should tell that to the people who didn't give Best Picture nomination to The Dark Knight and gave it to Frost/Nixon and The Reader...

Well, if it weren't for The Dark Knight, whose snubbing of a Best Picture nomination led the Academy to expand the field in future years up to 10 potential nominees, then I doubt Black Panther would've received a Best Picture nomination.  And had there been at least six slots in 2008, The Dark Knight may've been nominated.  Although clearly, with The Dark Knight RisesWonder WomanLogan (and insert your favorite here) also not being nominated, it's still an uphill battle for superhero movies to receive Best Picture nominations.

Anyways, yeah, I agree with the preference here for The Dark Knight.
