My Favorite Character- Theodore (My Vote)
His Best Performance IMO- Freddie Quell
His Underrated Performance- Commodus (Where he stole the show in many scenes even from the incredible Russell Crowe)

I don't think Commodus can be called underrated.

Okay. I just felt it because Gladiator is mostly known for Russel Crowe's performance. That's why I said Commodus is underrated.

Johnny Cash Walk the Line (2005), Joaquin Phoenix
.
Commodus Gladiator (2000), Joaquin Phoenix
He has been good to great in just about everything. I'm torn between the slightly better performance and the more delicious, sinister one.

I saw his reaction and also his speech. I could imagine it was really surprising for him. Maybe you can tell in your discription, in a few words, what happened. fyc

Johnny Cash. I also liked the character of Merrill in Signs. His performances in all, or at least almost all, of these films were top notch: what an actor.

Completely agree, Ruby!
Although I would vote for Theodore (because I adore that movie so much), but he was definitely impressive as Johnny Cash.
(Anyways, have you read the trivia of Sofia Coppola and Spike Jonze and their movies- Lost in Translation and Her?)

I thought I must have read the trivia of those movies because I lover both of them and remembered certain things like Bill Murray changing his talent agency to an unlisted 1-800 number, but when you asked, I went back and read all of it. 'Very interesting. Even though it's a favorite film of mine, I had no idea that Lost in Translation was partially auto-biographical and that Giovanni Ribisi's character was based on Spike Jonze. I thought it was really funny that there was a rumor that Ana Feris' character was based on Cameron Diaz. Even if it's not true, it just made me laugh.
It was also great that Spike Jonze said that he watched Woody Allen's Crimes & Misdemeanors while writing and filming Her to inspire him. Along with Manhattan, Crimes & Misdemeanors is my favorite Woody Allen movie and one of my favorite films of anyone's. That, of course, reminded me of your Woody Allen Face-Off, too.

I would pick the same as my favorite!
But if you ask for his best work in my opinion, it would be from The Master. He was outstanding in that role.

Robert Pattinson was not the only competition. In fact, he was not at the ceremony, so they already knew he wouldn't win.

15yearsIMDber aka ElMo
But I remember one day I saw the film Pride & Prejudice and when I saw the face of Matthew McFayden, I thought he could have made a terrific Johnny Cash, he had the looks, but Phoenix had the singing and musical talent.
I liked his performance in Her.
rocky-o
but mcfayden was perfect as peter lawford in the film 'the rat pack'...so at least he got to do a bio character somewhere...
Akash Charudatta Deshpande
I mean, I agree that he is much shorter than the original Johnny Cash. But, the way it never bothered the critics to appreciate his work, shows how he made them forget the difference with his acting skills.
