It's really hard to beat Being John Malkovich (1999). In my humble opinion it was a perfect mixture of Kauffman's writing, Jonze's direction and ensemble cast in one of the most surreal movies ever made.

All the movies I've seen written by Charlie i have been rated 9 or 10, but my vote would go to Adaptation, although I haven't seen his masterpiece Synecdoche.
