The Longest Day. This reminds me of a few that I've been meaning to see for a long time, like 'They Were Expendable' and 'The Long Voyage Home,' which my brother, who has great taste in film, has been recommending for years. Thank goodness for TCM. :)

The Longest Day is one of the greatest war movies. It has the most awesome cast you can imagine: John Wayne, Sean Connery, Henry Fonda, Robert Mitchum, Richard Burton, ... even Paul Anka and Bourvil have a role in it!

I voted for In Harms Way. A belated comment, but I think poll should include more movies and more conflicts, such as the Civil War, the Texas Revolution, the Indian Wars, the French and Indian War and other wars. For example, these titles and others could easily be included as they fit the poll's parameters. As it stands now, your poll seems to be all about World War Two with a few exceptions.

Civil War
How the West Was Won
Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman

Dark Command
Bob Seton

Creek Indian War
The Fighting Kentuckian
John Breen

Texas Revolution
The Alamo
Col. Davy Crockett

Indian Wars
Fort Apache
Capt. Kirby York

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
Capt. Nathan Cutting Brittles

3 Godfathers
Robert Marmaduke Sangster Hightower

Rio Grande
Lt. Col. Kirby Yorke

The Searchers
Ethan Edwards

French and Indian War (1754–1763)
Allegheny Uprising
Jim Smith

Mongol Invasion Campaign
The Conqueror
Temujin, later Genghis Khan

I totally agree with your comment if you consider this as a stand-alone poll. However, most movies relating to the Texas Revolution and Indian Wars are also classified as "westerns", and because I also made a second poll "Favorite John Wayne Western", I rather included these movies in my second list to avoid double use. The only one that wouldn't fit the western category is 'The Conqueror' but since this is a small and low-rated movie, it's not included in either poll.

Thanks, I can understand making them exclusive of each other. I was just sharing my first impression that John Wayne was in a lot more  "war" movies than are listed as options. Maybe, linking the the John Wayne polls once they go all go live would resolve the issue or an asterisk indicating a second poll Poll Suggestion: Favorite John Wayne Western covers the Western scope. The would helps others understand that they are not stand-alone polls. But, I am confused why there are four 600 or less vote options listed, but the nearly 3000 vote The Conqueror option is too lowly voted to be included.

A couple of notes for both polls suggestions. I don't think some of the options listed in the Favorite John Wayne Western Movie suggestion are truly Westerns. The 1759 French and Indian War's Allegheny Uprising (Pennsylvania) and the 1818 Creek Indian War's The Fighting Kentuckian (Alabama) were both set during the colonial times. At the time, they encompassed the western frontier, but are not what most poll takers think of as Westerns. I also would say that applies to the options set in Alaska and Mexico: Are Alaskan/Hawaiian/Mexican/Canadian set movies a Western too or is it limited to the Continental USA west of the Mississippi?  According to Wikipedia,  Western is a genre of various arts which tell stories set primarily in the latter half of the 19th century in the American Old West,  Neo-Westerns cover the 20th and 21st century time period, but are still set in the Western U.S. For these reasons, I think some of your poll options for Poll Suggestion: Favorite John Wayne Western would be better listed here, like Alabama's The Fighting Kentuckian (1949) and Mexico's The Undefeated (1969). The Battle of the Alamo was February 23 – March 6, 1836, so the Texas Revolution's The Alamo seems to be judgment call. Mostly, because of time period and location (technically not in USA (Coahuila y Tejas/Republic of Texas), but I can see its inclusion too. An added benefit is you seem to be pushing the answer option limit, more on your Western suggestion than on your War suggestion, so it  would balance them out more too.

On the first part of your comment, I made a cross-reference to the 'Favorite John Wayne Western' poll to indicate that they complement each other. I admit that I don't have a good reason not to include The Conqueror except for the fact that it does not really seem to fit the 'John Wayne style' (it also has the reputation of being the worst movie the Duke ever made).

On the second part of your comment, I'm not really an expert in the definition of 'western' so I followed the general category given by IMDb. However I do see your point: John Wayne made so many 'western' movies that it's hard to catch them in one poll. A solution would be to make two distinct polls: the first with true 19th century westerns and the second with movies set during the colonial period.
