Yeah, I noticed that too.
I saw 7 Best Picture nominnes out of 9 and "Moonlight was my least favorite, it had a pretty strong first act, an extraordinary second act, but I sincerely failed to see the connection between adult Chiron and the kid/teen. I expected some emotional knock-out at the end, or just a way to come to terms with his friend and ask him why he hit him that day, but nothing, it was just "hey, where have you been?" etc. etc. Take a film like "Lion", it wasn't flawless but what an explosion of tears and happiness in the end, and all the other movies reach their emotional pinaccle at the end but "Moonlight" ended in an anticlimactic way that didn't match the emotional power of the first two acts.
I'm not against a nice little twist and I hate to see politics everywhere but I'm not sure that "Moonlight" really deserved the Best Picture over "La La Land".

It may be helpful to add "Face-Off" on this one.

Kirk-Picard
Seriously one of the most wacky moments of any Oscar ceremony
Kirk-Picard
La La Land while not my favorite of the bunch was much more deserving.

(And Lion's ending is emotional, but clichéd.)
