I think heroines are supposed to be the main protagonists. Mona Lisa saves the day but Vinny is the hero. As for Hit-Girl, she is a killing-machine who uses her innocent look to savagely dismember people... how heroic is that lol?

I didn't use the word 'heroines' I used female characters, so she dosen't has to be a protagonist. As for Hit-Girl, she does kills people with horrible ways, but according to the movie they are the villains and she is the girl who wants justice, so I think she fits in the list. She also saves the protagonist's life multiple times.

I dont know... I hated that movie... I dont think there is anything remotely inspirational about it... especially when it shows a little girl who should be at school and enjoy her childhood being superheroic by using grown-ups' killing skills.

The problem is that your list still uses heroines and legitimate heroines at that... why should we have secondary characters when we can have the Bride, Scarlett O'Hara, Belle, Karen Silkwood, Clarice Starling etc.

I like your "save the day" approach but it only has an interesting value when its not mixed up with heroines... there have been enough heroine/badass/powerful female characters poll anyway...

Here's my opinion:

Heroes/Heroines are not always the main protagonists.

For example, Black Widow in any of the Avengers film; She wasn't the main or the leading protagonist, but she is still a heroine/superheroine.

The same goes for Captain Marvel, Pepper Pots, Eowyn.

And if he restricts the list to heroines, say goodbye to Catwoman too.

Btw, there are many types of protagonists;

  1. The main four: Hero, Anti-Hero, Villain, Anti-villain.

  2. Sub-Categories:
  • Leading protagonist (Captain America in Endgame)
(Note: The main protagonist is not always the leading protagonist. Sometimes, you won't even see the main protagonist. For example, the narrator of a film.),
  • Supporting protagonist (Iron Man in Endgame),
  • Central protagonist (Furiosa in MM: Fury Road),
  • Title protagonist (Max in MM: Fury Road),
  • False Protagonists (At the beginning of 'Psycho' you all believed that Marion Crane was the main character, but later she died and Norman Bates was revealed as the main character.)

If heroes are not the main protagonists, at the very least they are central or overarching protagonists. I think the poll was created on the basis of having Mona Lisa Vito in the list... no problem but then how about dedicating the list to "unsung" heroines and average Janes like her instead of mixing her with the usual heroic female warriors like Ripley, Connor and (sigh) Hit-Girl. That's all...

Congrats Paok,

But seriously (and no hurt intended) I'm having an overdose of Mona Lisa Vito in polls (and in the top pictures at that), that's it, I said it!

Seriously, she's been quite ubiquitous these days so pleeeaaaaaaaase, can you give her some rest and let's say we start seeing her pretty face again for the next decade.

Sorry but confinement enhances my moaning side.

ELMo, you once told me that I am creating poll suggestions without having any fun making them but I am making them just for the sake of it. You also wrote in another thread that nowadays it's all about the votes and not the polls (vote>poll). Now that I like a movie character that much and making polls with appetite, good mood and fun without caring much for the votes you are asking me to stop it? I think you should make up your mind. Either it is good to make suggestions without liking them or it is good to make suggestions while liking them and having fun. One prevent the other. You are basically asking me to stop making Mona Lisa Vito polls, which I obviously enjoy making and you are also asking to stop making polls without having fun. It would be good if you settle your priorities and make a permanent decision. I hope you'd understand my saying.

Take it easy, my friend.

We all have our darlings and I don't mind her being the center of your area of poll-inspiration... buI was annoyed by the number of times she appeared in recent polls and always in the top pictures.

You're 100% right to express your right to have fun as much as I'm right to express my right of having not fun? I know I sound grouchy but I can't help it lol

To be totally honest. I was bothered by her inclusion in the last hairdressers polls because you asked which one we'd trust to cut our hair, but that should apply only for barbers we've seen operating in movies. I'd trust Mona Lisa if I ever have a car-related litigation but nothing in the film implies that she's good at her job.

I didn't want to open a sterile debate about a poll technicality, I understood you wanted a MLV poll .. but then I saw her face again in today's poll and I was like John Hurt in "Spaceballs" (NOT AGAIN!)

Sorry... but your answer shows up signs of irritation but my criticism didn't mean to elicit a response like that (though I knew it wouldn't make you happy lol)

Sorry again if I hurt you... I won't do it again.

I think you have made a mistake. In the poll 'Barbers and Hairdressers' the character of Marisa Tomei isn't Mona Lisa Vito but Caroline from the film Untamed Heart (1993).

I think the reason you made that mistake is because in 'My Cousin Vinny' she mentions that she is an unemployed hairdresser.
