Raise the Red Lantern is not only my favorite Chinese film but one of my top ten favorites overall. Yay, DC, for calling attention to great movies like that one! Just curious: how did you decide what movies to include? (I'm guessing highest ratings on IMDb?) The films on the list that I know of are all very good and the list also serves as a resource for films I haven't seen -- 'good job compiling the list. :-)

Oh, hey Dibby, did I ever tell you that I lived in China when I was 23? A friend of mine still lives there and said that the city in which we lived, Nanjing, that did not have movie theaters when I lived there, now has many. Of course, Hong Kong had a lot of movie theaters then and I saw a couple of films on the list there.

Thank you for sharing your past story with us. I didn't know that you lived in China. I never visited China in my life, but I know it is a beautiful country. Couple of years ago I watched a BBC documentary TV Mini-Series named "Wild China" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0884762/). It was awesome. I would like to recommend this show to you. I hope you'll enjoy it.
And I like the name 'Dibby' that Pibby and you have given me. Currently I am using Windows 10 Professional OS on my thinkpad and this OS has an inbuild Artificial Intelligence named 'Cortana'. In it's program, I have set my name as 'Dibby', so whenever Cortana calls me, she address me as 'Dibby'. This is great fun.
Btw, have you fixed your PC? Recently I have created a FB group with 14 other members of IMDb Poll Board (Pibby, Kyle, Marwan, Leavey Teriek, Pencho etc.) This is a place of great fun. I added you to the group but since you don't access Facebook we really miss you there.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but of course haven't been on on a long time. I have to buy a new Macbook (mine has become obsolete in some ways because it's so old so it can't be upgraded) -- but I'm buying a new one this week ('can't wait) so then I'll be able to get onto the Facebook group -- woo hoo! That's a great group of people.

I hope you'll enjoy it.Thank you, DC (I mean Dibby, lol), for the link! I will definitely watch it -- on my new laptop, actually, which will be lovely. I'd watch it sooner but my present laptop no longer will support video, grrrr. It sounds wonderful and I'm very curious to see it and learn more about a country where I spent so much time but still feel like I don't know. The city where I lived was, at least then, not at all beautiful but I saw a good bit of countryside when I went on a 28-hour train ride (actually 56 hours round trip) and that was so lovely. I also loved Beijing, the Great Wall, and Hong Kong and there were a lot of nice sights there. I thought maybe I had mentioned that I lived there on the poll board... remember that "social questionnaire" thread that we did around Christmas time one year?... I thought maybe I mentioned it there. Ahh, I miss the poll board. That's one reason that I'm so glad you started a group for all of us on Facebook!
