A lot of Movies use a narrative instead of dialogue as the opening
scene of a motion picture. Some have images. Some do not. Sometimes
spoken. Sometimes not. However the director chose to frame the opening of these movies, they are the most memorable of the 1950s and 60s.

Which one of these do you consider the very best?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls044700555/
Poll:

I'll be doing the 1970s and up later

Sunset Boulevard (1950) instantly came to mind; it's probably the most iconic now. But damn, Billy Wilder just dominates this list, eh? The man was a legend at both opening and closing his films!

Yes he was. I stumbled on this idea while perusing the AFI top 100 quotes in 100 years list.
This instantly came to mind. Sunset Boulevard was my first thought.
Then others that were on the list sprang back to life after having my memory jogged while reading them all.
There are so many good ones here.
Sunset may take #1.
I will probably rearrange the order a bit so as to give others a chance at garnering a few deserved votes.
Thanks Kyle

Quo Vadis (1951)
"This is the Appian Way. The most famous road that leads to Rome, as all roads lead to Rome. On this road march her conquering legions. Imperial Rome is the center of the empire, an undisputed master of the world. But with this power inevitably comes corruption. No man is sure of his life, the individual is at the mercy of the state, murder replaces justice. Rulers of conquered nations surrender their helpless subjects to bondage."

It was borderline.
I figured if any one person asked for it, I would add it.

Ed, no need for any personal privileges, so I insist please exclude the two if you did this for me rather than for the options themselves (and if it was not the inner "jokester" of yours).

Anyway, since my suggestions are completely in the frame of "Greatest Opening Narrations [monologue] of the 1950s and 1960s", and are widely acclaimed to be memorable (I checked inet for this after your previous reply), and objectively are much greater for a descriptive poll when compared to such options as "(title card) Once upon a time" (more than one in your initial list of 19), you clearly uninvited me for further help in making your polls less personal and more complete for public needs. Thank you, now I have more time for the polls of mine.
