Paok-Kilkis, this last comment was caught in the spam filter sihed it out.

Also, you and Ed are confusing mathematical decades which indeed end in 00's and start in 1's with cultural decades, which are more naturally (less if you're a mathematician) divided into 80's, 90's, 00's etc.

He is still hogging an idea for a poll that has no business being suggested prior to the end of the year by your reasoning. Either way, the 2010's are not over yet.

Ed Jones (XLIX) I'd say that as a term 2010's are definitely referring to 2010-2019. Mathematically decade still started on 2011 and will end on 2020...

Is this based on Top 250 ratings, or did you set a minimum number of votes?

The Indian film Drishyam (2013) has recently made it into the Top 250 and is higher rated than The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

Drishyam added unfortunately. I hope by the time this goes live (if it goes live) The Wolf of Wall Street will surpass it.

I guess it won't. Just if ~10.000 people rate 'Drishyam' (2013) lower than the others did. 'Wolf of Wallstreet' has it's result from more then 1.000.000 raters. It can only move slowly up, except there were 500.000 people rating 'Wolf of Wallstreet' higher.
I saw the 2015s 'Drishyam' and it was great !

It may be good, I don't know since I haven't seen it, but I don't like the fact that a movie with only 25.000 votes is higher from a movie made by legendary Martin Scorsese with 1.000.000 votes.

there are some instances of good movies having low ratings and okay movies having high ratings... just saying ratings are often helpful but you can't depend solely on them

In theory,  Inception is not a 2010s movie the 10s began in 2011. '' For example, the period from 1961 to 1970 was the 7th decade of the 20th century''

The text continues, "the most common way to count decades is to group years based on their shared tens digit like the nineteen-sixties (1960s) referring to the period from 1960 to 1969."

Historians have never included a year zero. This means that between, for example, 1 January 500 BC and 1 January AD 500, there are 999 years: 500 years BC, and 499 years AD preceding 500. In common usage anno Domini 1 is preceded by the year 1 BC, without an intervening year zero. If I did your common way in my class history of high school, I would have failed every exam,  THE CORRECT WAY IS for example 1961 to 1970 because year 0 never existed, I don't care the common way,  I care the correct way the first decade of our era is year 1,  because in history it is impossible to have year 0.

1-10
11-20
21-30
31-40
41-50
51-60
...

No, the 13th century begann at January 1th, 00:00:00, 1200 AD. Last century was 20th century, even though it was 19xx, now we have the 21th century, even though there's no 21xx. It's still 2019 AD in the 21th century. Why should it be otherwise with the decades? When you have devices at the computer, for you there are the devices 1, 2, 3, ... The computer counts the devices 0, 1, 2 ... your device is 1 while the same device for computer is 0. 2 you, 1 computer, etc. ...
You see, even other intelligent people may count otherwise in some way.

I think both is possible, so you are both right. But I found this with the link you send cinephile:

The most common way to refer to decades is to group years based on their shared tens digit, such as the nineteen-sixties (1960s) referring to the period from 1960 to 1969.

I prefer this as well.
