No, we don't mean the sexiest movie, but the hottest. Literally. Movies about extreme temperatures.
Which movie about heat made you open the top button of your shirt just by watching it on TV or in the theater?

For your consideration:
Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959)
Prof. Lindenbrook leads his intrepid party on an expedition to the center of the earth, via a volcano in Iceland, encountering all manner of prehistoric monsters and life-threatening hazards on the way.
Joe Versus the Volcano (1990)
Joe is diagnosed with an incurable disease, quits his dehumanizing job, and accepts an offer to briefly "live like a king, die like a man" - but to fulfill his agreement he must willingly jump into a live volcano on the island of Waponi Woo in order to appease the volcano god.

Thanks for the suggestions, Jen. I added 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' and 'Pompeii'. I'm a little bit hesitant about the others, because they relate more to hot weather conditions and there's already an existing poll about this topic (Best Film Set in a Heat Wave). So what I'm really interested in are extreme heat situations like fires, volcanoes, nuclear meltdowns, etc.

If you're referring to the fire yesterday in an apartment building in London, this poll was created 2 months ago. There is no relation whatsoever between this poll and the current events in London.

Mrs. Deacon, Please describe exactly what is offensive that we don't go around assuming what you found so offensive. If it was indeed the fire in London, then Leavey is right since this poll was created over two months ago and went live on Tuesday the day before the fire in London. Yes, look at the date and time in Dan Dassow's post. It states that the poll went live at Tuesday "13-Jun-2017 1:38 AM Pacific". If I'm correct, London time is eight hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time. That makes this poll going live at around 9:38 AM tuesday morning in London time. The fire in London happen ed early Wednesday , 12:54 AM over 14 hours after this poll went live. It was just pure coincidence.
It would a different matter of like , I suppose that you have heard about a terrorist sniper trying to kill members of Congress at their annual softball Baseball game yesterday June 14, 2017? It would be tasteless that immediately after that, like with a few hour to a day after, if someone just created a faceoffs poll pitting two films that have snippets as heros, like "American Snipper" (2014) vs. "Enemy At The Gates" (2001), (which no one did) and the IMDb immediately post as thierhome page poll the next day (which they did not). See the difference? "Before" is coincidence. "After" is tacky and tasteless. And also how the event in the films being portrayed within the film matters too.
The IMDb and Leavey and the IMDb is not at fault here for coincidence. You are playing thought police.

Vivien Deacon, As the person who suggested this poll to be run at this time, I am sorry. When I suggested it and when it was run, the fire had not occurred yet so I certainly didn't mean any disrespect. Like dgranger said, that was pure coincidence. Leavey-2, who made the poll, suggested it a few months ago and had nothing to do with it running now or appearing on the homepage, so bears no responsibility whatsoever. I don't have the power to remove it but your concerns have been communicated to those who might. I can't speak for them but I'm sure they will take it seriously.

Hi Vivien Deacon,
The fire in London is a major tragedy. It was an unfortunate co-incident that this poll was featured on the IMDb Home Page prior to when the tragedy in London occurred.
This poll has been removed from the IMDb home page and replaced with another one.
