Stephen Hawking, English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge, passed away on March 14, 2018. Dr. Hawking appeared as himself in a number of television series. In which television series did he make the most memorable contribution?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls023385794/
Poll: http://www.imdb.com/poll/-SfgQNXYMoo/

1. Star Trek: The Next Generation
2. The Simpsons
3. Futurama
4. The Big Bang Theory

Hawking was born on the 300th anniversary of Galileo’s death and died on Albert Einstein’s birthday, which coincides with Pi Day. Both Einstein and Hawking died when they were 76 years old.

Very sad, a brilliant man and kind soul; now his knowledge will permeate throughout the earth's atmosphere... dispersed among the stars.

And I agree with DC, The Big Bang Theory.

Indeed, very sad.

What about Masters of Science Fiction? It is a relatively obscure anthology live-action TV series, in which he appeared as a an opening prologue host.

Nikolay,

I considered Masters of Science Fiction. However, I wanted to limit the poll to his guest appearances where he played himself in small cameo rolls.

I say STTNG appearance in episode is classic since show dated from 80s.,

Maybe it should be mentioned that the genius died on the day of Pi, March 14 (3,14...)... Albert Einstein was born that day in 1879 :) (not to mention that they died at the same age: 76)

The loop is looped, RIP Genius!

ElM,

I wanted to keep the introduction simple and focused on Stephen Hawking. Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein are two of my personal idols. I've read their academic work since I was a teenager.

All the more reason to make the connection, it's only because it's a mathematic one that I thought it could work as a nod to the world of science for which they contributed... as you like:)

How about this:

Hawking was born on the 300th anniversary of Galileo’s death and died on Albert Einstein’s birthday, which coincides with Pi Day. Both Einstein and Hawking died when they were 76 years old.
