The first two decades of the 21st century have given us numerous Science Fiction Blockbusters including "Inception", "Interstellar", and, of course, the many Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

However, there have also been numerous excellent, if less well-known, Sci-Fi titles released during this period. Which of these films, released between 1/1/2000 and 12/31/2019 with average ratings of 5.5 or above and fewer than 50,000 votes, is your favorite?

Notes:

  1. Suggestions welcome!!!
  2. Feature films, Videos & T.V. movies only.
  3. Release date 1/1/2000 - 12/31/2019.
  4. Minimum 5.5 rating and maximum 50,000 votes.
  5. Should we get many good suggestions in excess of 35, I reserve the right to increase the rating threshold to 6.0, in which case titles in the 5.5-5.9 range (including my own contributions) will be removed.

I thought "Continuum" was significantly better; but I love that Time Paradox stuff.

I added both the live action titles.

I'm tabling the Animations for now.

What exactly do you mean you're tabling the Animations for now? I was under the impression you were going to do a science-fiction version of The IMDb Poll Board User's Beloved Little Comedy Movies? This is really a completely different beast given the time constraints and already filled out the list with 19 other films of your own choice.

It seems a bit bait and switch on your part.

Stephen Atwood,

I never stated that this would be a Sci-Fi version of Breumaster's poll exactly.

However, due to the similarity of the idea (which has been doing the rounds in my head since before Breu posted his P.S.) I asked for his permission.

This is because many childish people on the IMDb here feel that they "own" certain polls or certain types of polls. (Breu is not such a person, though.)

You are welcome to make 1, or 3 or 6 suggestions. I will gladly include all, if they meet the criteria.

The Animated titles are being tabled, not tossed.

As stated above, should there be more good suggestions, titles in the 5.5-5.9 rating range will be tossed, including my own.

If you choose not to participate, that is fine.

You're welcome to make your own polls. You can populate your poll entirely with manga if you so please.

I tried to search through a table of about 350 movies that would meet the criteria. To find a movie that fits and matches with the criteria is really heavy. If a scifi movie reaches 5.5/10, it mostly has more than 50.000 ratings.

EDITED:

Breu, I just looked at titles in the 50,000 - 75,000 range, and there are many good titles... some with just a few thousand more than 50,000 votes. Most have average ratings of 6.0+ as well.

The maximum number of votes is officially increased to 75,000.

some of these sound pretty good!

The Silence (2019)
The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot (2019)
Sweetheart (2019)
Barbie: Star Light Adventure (2016)

Thanks,

For some reason, "Sci-Fi" is not listed as one of the films genres, though from the plot synopsis and keywords it appears that it should be.

Can you confirm that this is, at least in the broadest sense, a Science Fiction (which includes "Social Science Fiction" / "Speculative Fiction") film?

Thank you.

All added, except "The After" which was a 55 minute Pilot for a TV Series which was not picked up, and rebranded as a "TV Movie".
