The Lizzie Borden Folk Rhyme was created shortly after the murders.

One could easily argue that Macbeth is Shakespeare's horror play. The play starts with three witches casting a spell. For that matter, Aubrey Page argues in his review that Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth (2015) is the Most Heartfelt Horror Film Ever Made.
