Thanks, Peter, for letting me know. The list was on the "private" setting: if I had a nickel for every time I've done that...  Anyway, I switched it to public so the link works now.

Ricki and the Flash, the aged rocker would be choice.

great poll ruby...i've always loved her singing voice...

when 'rikki and the flash' was announced, i was so excited, i figured, finally...a movie that may let out her inner 'bonnie raitt'...but instead...the rather lame film decided to focus more on her family than her music...what a waste of a good opportunity...(they even had rick springfield as her lead guitarist!)...

however, having said that, to answer your question properly, in the way that it was worded, yes, what little she got to do in 'rikki and the flash' was my favorite vocal performance, with 'mamma mia' definitely a close second, especially since it was a much better film...

Yes, Rikki and the Flash was definitely disappointing, but I liked to get to hear her sing (and play the guitar) and see her opposite Kevin Kline. I liked her in Prairie Home Companion, in which she got to sing a lot. Of course she was great in all of these movies but Rikki, Prairie, and Mamma were the biggest showcases for her vocals, especially given that she had to learn how to sing badly for Florence, lol. I really have to see Mamma Mia!

Oh, and yeah, I've always loved her voice, too. (And from the music you listed on Jen's "what have you been listening to" thread, I think we have similar taste.) Thanks for the cool feedback!

I voted for Rikki and the Flash. It had at least one or two good song moments, although I thought some of the other numbers, especially the opening, could have been cut short. I mostly liked the family story.

I mostly liked the family story, as well, especially during the first half of the movie, and I thought Streep and Kline had great chemistry. I was ultimately disappointed with the film because it seemed to lose focus after the first half, approximately, and veer off into reliance on cliches. There were some lovely moments, though; my favorite musical moment was when Streep's Rikki played an acoustic guitar and sang for her daughter and ex-husband.

Prairie Home Companion, no contest. Even though Harrelson and Reilly stole that movie.

I've got to see that one. That's one of two on the list that I haven't yet.
