Uncles are like our granddads the age of our fathers, they're cool because they don't handle us every day and we see them, we get a sort of connection that goes beyond the whole parental control... and yet sometimes, they can be as protective, authoritarian and loving as our Dads.

Having turned into an uncle for the first time yesterday, here's a tribute to some of the most memorable TV uncle, which one is your favorite?

Congratulations, ElMo, on becoming an uncle! I've been an aunt since I was about five years old and I love it.

It's really cool to see Tom Hanks there before he was the Tom Hanks. :)

May I suggest one small edit to the intro? (a colon instead of a comma)

I can't really relate to uncles who don't handle their nephews on a daily basis. Me and my brother were mostly raised by a great-uncle and great-aunt, because our mother had health problems and our fire-fighter father did not have enough free time for a family.

My favorite fictional uncle was always Scrooge McDuck. For Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie he was always part father figure/mentor, part boss (in the comic books, he pays them for their services), and part petty tyrant who won't allow them to slack off on working time. A quite interesting dynamic for a series about a family of adventurers.
