Meta-Cinema is a mode of filmmaking in which the audience is informed that they are watching a world of fiction. Such films may include 'Breaking 3rd Wall' technique or characters discussing about filmmaking.

Which of these films is your favorite?

I suggested this a while back, I thought it made a poll, it didn't :(
I'm not sure we have the same definition, defined them as movies centering the plot on a creative process whose final result is either the film itself or something artistically similar

Sdk ElMaruecan, it's a little bit different.
I didn't exclude the films that broke the Fourth Wall.

And actually thanks for your link. I wrote '3rd' wall instead of '4th' at first!

Corrected my mistake.

Some titles are the same. Maybe you can make a part 2?

Actually, it's breaking the 4th wall, not the third. The expression comes from the stage - you have your stage-left wall, stage-right wall, up-stage wall, and the invisible down-stage wall that separates the play from the patrons, which is then "broken" when it's acknowledged you're in a play (or movie).

Thanks for sharing the information, mate. I have already changed it in the description from the list.

Actually I knew it from the beginning. It's just that, I was in hurry to post and share it; I completely forgot to check what I had written.

I don't think documentaries should count. The purpose of a documentary is to educate people, and not tell a story. That pretty much means they "break the fourth wall" out of necessity.

That would make each and every documentary ever made to be a contender in such thing.
But, I refereed to this-

But documentaries aren't movies, in the traditional sense. In something like Patton 360, the historians, and other experts, will tell you what happened, how, and why. They are being informative, as opposed to using a stylistic device, like something like this line from Spaceballs: "Ship is too big. If I walk, the movie will be over." I think people would understand if you excluded documentaries.

Okay. I Agree.

So, should I remove these 4 titles?

- 1. Man with a Movie Camera

2. F for Fake

3. My Winnipeg

4. Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One

'Probably Mulholland Drive - great film. 'Good poll, too!

May I suggest a few small edits? They're below in bold (you know, not to be kept in bold -- just so the suggested edits are noticeable).

Meta-Cinema is a mode of filmmaking in which the audience is informed that they are watching a world of fiction. Such films may include the "Breaking the Fourth Wall" technique or characters discussing filmmaking.

By the way, if my suggested edits get annoying, just tell me to buzz off. :-) I'm a writer, editor, and English instructor so I'm constantly editing my writing and others' writing - by now, it's either a possibly annoying habit or some kind of obsessive-compulsive thing, lol.

Have a great weekend.
