Kyle,

Technically, January 1, 2018 to March 31, 2018 describes the first quarter of 2018, not Winter 2018. The astronomical description for Winter in the Northern Hemisphere is the period from the Winter Solstice (Thursday, December 21, 2017) to the day before the Spring Equinox (Tuesday March 20, 2018). The Spring Equinox is the start of Spring.

However, there is not enough time to properly verify this poll before the start of the astronomical start of Winter in the Northern  Hemisphere. It's probably OK to bend the calendar this time.

In the future, it may be better to use these definitions from Box Office Mojo, which probably better corresponds to how the film industry defines the seasons.

Winter

Note: The Winter Season is defined as the first day after New Year's week or weekend through the Thursday before the first Friday in March)

Spring

Note: The Spring Season is defined as the first Friday in March through the Thursday before the first Friday in May.

Summer

Note: The Summer Season is defined as the first Friday in May through Labor Day Weekend.

Fall

Note: The Fall Season is defined as the day after Labor Day Weekend through the Thursday before the first Friday in November.

Dan,

Thank you for that clarification! I was aware that, as you stated, Winter had technically begun but since the window had been passed, I thought starting in the New Year would be OK. The above links are helpful.

In light of that info, is there a better wording you would given than how I have laid it out (currently the poll has stated the Winter according to the Northern Hemisphere). How would you state it?

Also, I know in the past you have done these polls but I thought since you hadn't completed the 2017 editions, you would be okay for me to take this one.

Kyle,

I simply have not had enough time to create the poll for Winter 2018. I have no problem with you creating this edition of the poll.

It's up to you:

1. You can keep the current time frame for Winter and use the phrasing you currently have; or

2. Use the definition given by Box Office Mojo and use that time frame.

Thanks Dan. I think I'll go with option 2 (keep the time frame and change up the wording of "winter").

My vote will go to Ready Player One (2018). The trailer alone makes it look like a cross between films like LOTR, The Matrix, Akira, The Hunger Games and Tron. Could be a definite game changer by Spielberg.
