Have the Hollywood studios now totally ceased making films for intelligent adults?  All of the titles on this list of excrement are geared toward teenagers: useless re-boots and more and more and more comic book ripoffs.  I will stick to the blessed indie scene (yes, I am an "art house" addict) and films from outside the USA.  The BAFTAs are far more important to me than the idiotic Oscars for the last few decades.

Maybe so, but what about The Irishman and Ford v. Ferrari? Or are those non-Hollywood works? Also, the list is of anticipated movies, whereas in lots of years, the more interesting of movies fly under the radar until released.

They've got nothing but remakes and sequels. Apparently they don't have any original thoughts left.

This entire list is absolute garbage and goes to show just how out of ideas HollHood is. Literally 90% of the list consists of remakes and sequels. The NPC's in HollyHood don't have an original thought left at all.

Chris, have you seen "God's Own Country," a UK film which, for many reasons, could never be made in the USA?  It was nominated for best British film and best actor at this year's BAFTAs and is gritty and painfully gorgeous and emotional and utterly original.  I live in Europe so I get a nice array of new films from many lands, and the crap coming out of America just all pales in comparison to stuff from, say, Iceland!  Great stuff from Spain and Portugal as well as Brazil and Argentina.  The only American film I've seen of late that I enjoyed is "The Rider," a little indie flick that will just disappear.  I was with Austrian friends the other night who were arguing over which "A Star is Born" is the worst: Garland/Mason, Streisand/Kristofferson, or Gaga/what's-his-name. They showed respect only for the original (Gaynor/March).

Americans would find it:

Boring,

Dreary,

Slow,

Lacking action scenes,

Repulsive in the scenes involving the handling of the farm animals,

Intolerable for its male full frontal nudity and - especially - its graphic gay sex scenes,

And using the word “God” in the title would draw anger and protests and boycotts from America’s Psycho-Christians, and put off the crowd who would see the title and immediately ignore the film as religious propaganda.

But – hey! – I haven’t visited America since 2003 so what do I know?  The last American film I deigned to see in cinema was “Isle of Dogs,” but in a field dominated by Marvel Comics, reboots, sequels, vampires, and zombies, it was a delightful departure from the usual American drivel.

Those are not reasons why God's Own Country could never be made in the United States, only reasons why it would probably not be successful at the mainstream box office within the United States.

If it were predicted as a box office failure, which studio would then fund it and promote it?

No studio is necessary for that purpose, in the United States.

Adding to what Jeorj Euler said, US independent film industry produces a lot of slower, at times much superior movies which still make up their budget with video releases and festival circuit. Are they as known as big budget ones? Well, no. Do they strive to be as known? At times no, as well.
