Live Poll: Movie Predictions for 2019

As 2019 rapidly approaches, it's time to remember movies set in that year which were made way before. Some of those got eerily accurate in terms of predictions already, some not and some might have a chance. Regardless of how accurate these movies got in terms of predicting the future, which vision of 2019 is your favorite?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls041059002/

Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/RaikJ8uAANI/

Note: I have a feeling that keyword is lying and there should be more feature films set in 2019, at least partially, so suggestions are welcome. Even if in my case it is already hard to vote as is because The Running Man is very much clashing with Blade Runner. :)

Fun, interesting poll. 'Another vote for Blade Runner.

'Very well written intro but could you update the opening phrase?

As 2019 rapidly approaches, it's time to remember movies set in that year which were made way before...

(Maybe something like "Now that 2019 is here, it's time...)

Blade Runner is the only movie I've seen from this list but certainly one of my favorite movies of all time, so I guess even if I saw the other movies I would not change my vote.

2019 FYI past movies set in a not too distant future year, 2019

The Road 2009 | Movie

Geostorm 2017 | Movie  (partially set in 2019 timeline is 2019-2023)

Hotel Transylvania 2 2015 | Movie (sequel is set 7 years after original 2012 movie)

Searching 2018 | Movie (partially set in 2019, two year timeline in movie)

Heatseeker 1995 | Movie

Test Tube Teens from the Year 2000 1994 | Video (296 votes)

Mock Up on Mu 2008 | Movie (81 votes)

FYC
a belated title change suggestion: Back to the Future, Past Movies Set Today (2019). The title as "Movie Predictions for 2019 " is a bit vague and could be about a lot of different predictive spins and lacks a hook.

Great thanks! I knew there should be more movies set in 2019 and of course there is at least one movie directed by Albert Pyun...

Should I ask for a re-push now that the poll went live? I never did that and I'm a bit afraid and anxious to... But some of these movies are too much of an omission, seemingly...

I can partially agree with the title problem, but "Back to the Future" might mislead people even more, all things considered, although that franchise had one of the most publicized cases of entering the year in which the movie was set and actually ended up predicting a lot of accurate things about 2015.

All are suggestions, you can add any additional answer options, just put "added 10 January 2019" in each answer's note box you add. You can change the title if you want or not. I thought it could be a series with the year changing in each edition. I did next year 2020 Back to the Future, Past Movies Set Today (2020)

A re-push if fairly easy if not abused. I wouldn't request one until you 100% sure you have completed all the changes. So, if you want to think about the title or come up with better one. I would do it all at once. I am pretty sure the list is near complete, and I added notes about some grey area options you may wish to to include in the answer notes.

When you have completed any changes, go to the FAQ: Poll Authors - Re-Push Requests thread and post a request. The basic info to include is below and you need to detail the changes and reasons in the Reason line.

The title is a turn on the phrase(movie title) that you are going back to past movies to see what the future will be like (but is now the present).

I just re-watched Blade Runner (1982), I am little disappointing that 2019 didn't live up to the hype. 'Blade Runner': What the movie got wrong -- and right -- about 2019 ...

Firstly, you're a bit early since it takes place in November 2016.

Secondly... It got much much more things right then wrong, to be honest. I'm researching for a video essay and I've got to admit that societal, econmical, technological and other aspects seen in the movie that were total sci-fi in 1982 were at times very much on point related to how 2019 actually looks and feels like. I think when it is about sci-fi predicting future people usually can't get past a few glaring moments which differ: I've seen that with Back to the Future Part II (1989) 2015 hype as well: people just can't get past through the flying cars.

Although, Blade Runner (1982) obviously was better about timing for the flying cars, I can give you that. Still, I believe that between it, The Running Man (1986) and Akira (1989), predictions were stunningly accurate in many aspects.
