Sorry, but 2001 is based too much in space and on Earth. Plus it's not grounded enough. Remember HAL9000?

Tough one. From this list I'd probably go for Avatar. Moon is a personal favourite too and comes a very close 2nd.

There is probably not a good alternative to Planetary.
On the surface of a moon would be lunar. However, that would not apply to planetary objects.
One alternative to planetary would be "Surface Bound". However, that does not communicate the underlying concepts of on non-terrestrial objects.
