Which of this movies got the most outrageous critic score?

You can see in this list all the movies that didn't get enough love from the critics, when compared to the public. All of these movies are on IMDB Top 250, and the critic score is below 70.

The list can be found here: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls024052259/

NoPantsBatmanTM,

The IMDb Editors prefer that "vs." have a period.
Please change the title of your list (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls024052259/) from:

Public vs Critics

To:

Except for  Return of the Jedi and The Prestige, I think most of other movies are underrated.  :D

Let’s take this one step further only on this discussion page and not on the list page. Since the list page shows the meta critic score (“metascore”) which is color coded, and many are color coded green at 61 and above instead the 70 level you were talking about in your intro, let’s consider only those who have a yellow or red metascore (60 and below).
On your list, these are the ones with in the yellow range:
- “The Intouchables” - metascore 57, IMDb 8.5
- “Judgment at Nuremberg” - metascore 60, IMDb
- “Life Is Beautiful ” - metascore 59, IMDb 8.6
- “Snatch” - metascore 55, IMDb 8.3
- “Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi” metascore 58, IMDb 8.3
- “The Thing” metascore 57, IMDb 8.1

Because the only ones that I saw, Judgment at Nuremberg“, “Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi”, and “Thing” that jumped out at me. Since SW: RotJ wasn’t the best of the original trilogy, that score was fair. I don’t remember “Judgement At Nuremberg” all that well. Now “The Thing” I do remember and do believe the public is right on that one.

I see your point. To explain mine it's somewhat simple. I chose the score below 70 because, even though they show the color green, it's a score that shows that the movie is just a "see only because".

For example, you're searching on IMDB for a good movie to see, and you just pass by movies that have a score like 6.8, 6.5, and the likes. Now, a "metascore" of 68 is the equivalent of an IMDB score of 6.8, and all these movies belong to the IMDB Top 250, meaning that the public has all these movies at high regard, and if we depended merely on the critics, all the movies on the list would be a "pass-through" while searching for a good movie to watch.

I left my personal taste aside while making this list, I just focused on the values, on the majority of the public and the critics opinions.

You’re preaching to the choir on that one. I usually take the public but I do see why critics are like the way they are. They see more films than we do and therefore, see the cliches more than we do. But it does seam that they do seam to rank dark depressing boring films higher than most people.

I don't rely that much on the critics, honestly. In case of doubt, I prefer to read the reviews of the public. With some thinking into them, you can get if the movie is worth watching or not.

Hmmm, maybe 'Judgement at Nuremberg,' or 'Inglourious Basterds.' There are a few other possibilities too - 'tough choice. That makes for a good poll, I think. :)

May I suggest one edit? (It's below in bold.)

Which of these movies got the most outrageous critic score?

Yeah, I don't trust autocorrect, and I'm afraid that by the time autocorrect is near perfect, it'll be able to predict my "thoughts" before I even think those thoughts :P

It is scary and, in the meantime, it's annoying that autocorrect both thinks it's smarter than we are, lol, and messes things up. If I were prone to conspiracy theories, I would think it's out to get us, lol.

Autocorrect programs do not even have the intelligence of an ant. Simple autocorrect programs check whether a word is in the dictionary. If the word is in the dictionary, it takes no action.Otherwise, it finds the closest match using algorithms such as
Soundex. More sophisticated systems also use a dictionary of common misspelled words and common misspellings.
Autocorrect grammar systems use syntax templates. These systems generally do a good job for simple sentences, but can produce strange results for more complicated sentences.
Very few (if any) autocorrect grammar system make use of semantics (meaning) of words, so may produce non-sensible results.

Maybe you should mention Metacritic specifically so it is clear where those numbers come from:

All of these movies are on the IMDB Top 250, and the Metacritic score is below 70.

I don't know why so many critics greatly dislike Showgirls.
