In a career spanning 40 years, French composer Francis Lai composed music for more than 130 films and TV series and wrote more than 600 songs. He won an Oscar and a Golden Globe and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2014. Francis Lai died on 7 November 2018, aged 86, at his home in Paris.

And there's also Michel Legrand who died recently... Le Grand Michel... he had quite beautiful scores too... I only remember Lai for Love Story.

Oh no, I didn't know that! Wow, both were 86 years old and died less than 3 months from each other. Two of the most legendary French film composers!

Yep, I was saddened by Legrand's death, he never got the recognition he deserved with French cinema (never a César or nothing).

Strange. Francis Lai was also nominated 4 times for a César, but never actually won it. But he did win an Oscar and a Golden Globe. Legrand won 3 Oscars and a Golden Globe.
