You know that sensation that just starts over your neck, a cold little thrill that goes all over your living body and makes you forget for one brief moment where you are... and you just leave the film, leave the place you are... and let the music leave its movie and you just live the music, whatever that strange sentence means.

That's the power of music, that's the power of many scores that transcended their film and became something that inhabit you, they all have one thing in common, a specific moment that sends shivers down your spine and inspire your heart a cocktail of exhilarating sensation. These are the scores that give you goosebumps.

Which of these powerfully emotional scores has got the strongest effect on you?

Thanks, could you provide some links to your new suggestions and what you consider the "goosebump" moment (I'd like to experience them):)

I have to say that "The Final Bell" gives me goosebumps more in the ending part.

Starts here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvvDj2fnKoQ&t=89s and culminates with the climax at (1:40) until the end. This always give me goosebumps.

An authentic gem.

As subjective as it is, FYC:
Le samouraï (1964) by François de Roubaix (most of the score to me)
Candyman (1992) by Philip Glass (both main title and recurring theme are haunting in the best possible way)
The Terminator (1984) by Brad Fiedel (main title theme is perfect and instates a mix of dread and excitement right from the start)
Halloween (1978) by John Carpenter (I still don't know how on Earth that was written in four days)
Blade Runner (1982) by Vangelis (for me in particular "Blade Runner Blues" which is heard as Deckard shoots Zhora)
Christine (1983) by John Carpenter (main theme)
Taxi Driver (1976) by Bernard Herrman (that list will be incomplete without at least one score by Herrman)
Escape from New York (1981) by John Carpenter (one of the best opening themes ever)
The Running Man (1987) by Harold Faltermeyer (to say that Faltermeyer's music greatly elevates the whole movie would be an understatement of the century)
Kin-dza-dza! (1986) by Giya Kancheli (main title leaves me in what I could only describe as hysterical devastation)
Donnie Darko (2001) by Michael Andrews
Gang Related (1996) by Mickey Hart (best use of glass harmonica I have ever heard)

I'll check these one by one, I deliberately left the "thriller" scores because it's not exactly the kind of goosebumps I meant, "Psycho" is quite heart-pounding but then if you add "Psycho", you've got to consider the effect the first fanfares of "Star Wars" have on audiences and then you have to add every classic fantasy / scifi / horror / thriller. The focus is really on the emotional scores but that said, if it's an emotional score from a thriller, it's eligible.

I just listened to Hans Zimmer's score of "Point of No Return" and it's quite an underrated score especially the ending.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I wish there was a link with the goosebump moment so I could also experience them right away :)

Still working on other suggestions, 7 spots are still left, some new inclusions might sound subjective but I'm open for new suggestions, the music can come from a thriller but the "goosebumps" effect has to be driven by an emotion other than fear or anticipation of violence (like "Psycho")

Wow, ElMo, what a list! I knew The Mission, Lawrence of Arabia, and a few others would be on the list, but you reminded me of a few others, like Midnight Express (ahhh...), which makes the choice very difficult. Goosebumps is right! I love the intro, by the way -- it practically gives me goosebumps, too.

May I suggest just three little edits? (They're in bold below. I unbolded the things you had in bold just here so the edits were easier to spot.)

You know that sensation that just starts in your neck, a cold little thrill that goes all over your living body and makes you forget for one brief moment where you are... and you just leave the film, leave the place you are... and let the music leave its movie and you just live the music, whatever that strange sentence means.

That's the power of music, that's the power of many scores that transcended their film and became something that inhabits you: they all have one thing in common, a specific moment that sends shivers down your spine and inspire your heart a cocktail of exhilarating sensations. These are the scores that give you goosebumps. (an "s" on the end of "inhabits" and a colon -- or semi-colon-- after "you")

Which of these powerful scores* has got the strongest effect on you?

After voting, you might discuss the list here

OSCAR WINNER Oscar nominee

*on an emotional level; another poll will be dedicated to adventurous, thrilling or heart-pounding scores à la John Williams or Bernard Herrmann (just a semi-colon, instead of a comma, after "level")

Sorry Ruby, I just noticed that comment tonight, thanks a lot for your help :)
Seems like I'm not in good terms with colons (and semi-colons)...
