Live Poll: Should ''Superhero Movie'' Be a Genre on IMDb?

IMDb currently recognizes 24 genres to which a film or a series can belong. Some genres (Film-Noir) are considered ''locked'', and cannot be submitted for new releases anymore, while some (Western) are based solely on historical/geographical setting of a film.

And then, we have superhero films. They are getting numerous, and are more popular then ever. Currently, they can be labeled with a 'superhero' key-word on IMDb, but there is no Superhero genre tag. Instead, they are most commonly listed as Action-Adventure-Fantasy-SciFi (with an occasional Comedy and Drama popping up).

So, we ask you... do you think IMDb should add a Superhero genre, as the 25th genre tag?

Available answers:
1) Yes! Let's be real - we all call them ''superhero movies'' in everyday speak anyway. Why not making it official?

2) No! If we make this precedent now, then people will ask the same for every other sub-genre.

3) Maybe. Maybe not. I don't really have a clear opinion on this matter.

4) *yawn* Who cares? I don't!

I counted 28 genres, not 24.

My answer is 2) t is not enough to consider it a genre. In my opinion the only thing that's missing and that is urgent to add is Experimental, there are titles in the IMDb that cannot be qualified as anything else.

I say #1.  In my humble, not-well-comic-book-versed opinion, superhero is a genre of it's own and cannot fully be described with fantasy, sci-fi, or action, etc.  It is usually a jumble of all.  Say what you will about them, superhero movies are typically unique.

I'd say answers are too radical, so I'd probably take option number 3 out of those. You see, on the one hand I am a fan of superhero genre and I'm glad it receives more attention and accolades. Same with comic book movies, because not necessarily those two are the same thing, if intervening way too often.

The problem will inevitably arise with the latter portion, I recon. Some people absolutely will try to make "superhero genre = comic book movie", when at times even movies containing superhero elements are not focusing on that exact aspect. I'd say superhero and comic-based should probably remain as keywords. Especially since keywords are spoiler-protected and there are cases when plastering "superhero" over a movie will be a spoiler.

Nope, it's a subgenre of the Fantasy or Sci-fi genre, like Gangster film is a sub-genre of the crime film...

I say yes! Each time when I was at cinema for the MCU, I saw people from (guessing) 20 up to 65 years. The genre has to many seperate followers in a wide span of age to ignore it. There are so many highly successful superhero movies and tv-series that it can't be ignored for a very much longer time. The reaction of Scorsese shows panic to be less popular for the audience. If he had no fear of, he wouldn't have reacted so harsh. Then he would have turned a blind eye and would have said with a smile, "What should I say, kids need movies, too." ;) But he knows ... And yes, I like Scorsese's movies, too. :D

To make it more clear:
It is a separate form of movie making. In todays form it's new. Each of the movies have a comic book as source for the story. It's a special art to interpret the stories from drawings and a little text to a real movie with dialogue. Specially converting the stories to a higher level of real movie is a very creative art. The writer has to understand the stories first to convert them best into a reality format. Else the comic fans would be disappointed very fast. ;)

Hmm, interesting question to ponder. I bet it will be popular, too.

'Three suggested edits to the intro: (below in bold) (comma before qtr marks; then>than; no comma)

IMDb currently recognizes 28 genres to which a film or a series can belong. Some genres (Film-Noir) are considered ''locked,'' and cannot be submitted for new releases anymore, while some (Western) are based solely on historical/geographical setting of a film.

And then, we have superhero films. They are getting numerous and are more popular than ever. Currently, they can be labeled with a 'superhero' key-word on IMDb, but there is no superhero genre tag. Instead, they are most commonly listed as Action-Adventure-Fantasy-SciFi (with an occasional Comedy and Drama popping up).

So, we ask you... do you think IMDb should add a Superhero genre as the 29th genre tag?

('Great intro, btw.)

''locked,''
Wait, really? It's supposed to be like that? Wow, English grammar is so much different than Serbian grammar.
I barely got used to use the right quotation marks. In Serbian language, there are no ''these'' - only ,,these'' and 'these'.

Thank you. I fixed it.
