December 24, 2018 marked the 200th anniversary of the first performance of "Silent Night" (German: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht"). Father Joseph Mohr asked Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf, to compose music to lyrics he wrote when the church organ was damaged. The song was first performed with guitar accompaniment for the Christmas Eve mass.

I, too, love this song. The most beautiful version I've ever heard is by Sinead O'Connor. I love this poll idea, too; I can't remember the song in every movie of these that I've seen but, in 'Spotlight,' it was overwhelmingly poignant and powerful, as if I had the wind knocked out of me.

I, too, love this song.


in 'Spotlight,' it was overwhelmingly poignant and powerful, as if I had the wind knocked out of me.
