Nikolay,
Thank you for creating a thoughtful and informative poll honoring the memory of Rutger Hauer.
Rutger Hauer had an amazing career. I will have to think about which of his roles I find most amazing.

In the first option, "a but part" I think you mean "a bit part"?
The Blade Runner facts will get my vote.

One of the most tragic deaths of this year, I love this poll and pay tribute respectfully to the great Hauer. My choice would be Blade Runner, I love this movie, I love his character, every word he says is pure beauty and philosophy masterfully interpreting a man both enigmatic and moving and his final monologue has no comparison in the cinema.

R.I.P. Rutger Hauer - you will be greatly missed. My longtime favorite is Ladyhawke.

Rutger Hauer was an amazing talent that will be missed. My favourite role of his is Roy Batty in Blade Runner, he gave that film so much of a philosophical edge and that 'tears in rain' monlogue was improvised by him which is absolutely incredible. I see you've added some of his more obscure roles like Omega Doom and mentioned Split Second, Wedlock, Blood of the Heroes and Blast. Might I suggest one of his more forgotten about films, the action comedy Blind Fury. It's an interesting blend of eastern martial arts and a western action film injected with a great sense of humour. There's also a few other films of note that you could possibly mention including Nighthawks, Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Salute of the Jugger, A Breed Apart, etc.

This is a very nicely done memorial poll for a very good, humanistic actor. My vote will go to 'Escape from Sobibor.' I love his performances in that film and in 'Blade Runner' the most but 'Blade Runner' will get more votes so I'll vote for the lesser known and amazing 'Escape.'
May I suggest a few edits to the intro? (They're below in bold.)

Corrected, but about the titles... It was my original point to make options which are not titles, but more of representation. Otherwise we'll need to deleted The Hitcher remake altogether, despite I really want to keep the part about roles he barely missed, as well... I tried to make that point a bit different then both my original formulation which I must admit is off but also it's a bit different then what you've suggested... Can you please see the corrected variant and say whether it's any good?

I'm very sorry, Nikolay, but as much as I hate to do this, I'm afraid that this is the only way that I can give you my honest response to the updated list of Rutger Hauer films, without hurting your feelings or making you mad at me or anything else like that:

Aha, I see. Well then, Nikolay, please accept my humblest apologies for my ignorance on this subject. I wasn't aware that we were actually discussing Rutger's personality or his unique ability to make the roles that he plays in his films his very own.
Perhaps, if you would be so kind, you might explain to me in more detail how each movie on your list that he starred in represents Rutger's acting style and everything else, okie-dokie?

Say, you forgot to include his 1989 film, "Blind Fury", in which Hauer plays the role of an M.I.A. Vietnam War soldier who loses his eyesight during a shelling attack on his compound, and is found by some villagers who take care of him and teach him how to use his other senses and how to use a samurai sword, and then he returns to the U.S. to find his old Army buddy from his unit, and he ends taking care of his friend's son after the mother is murdered, and the two of them are hunted down from Miami to Las Vegas where the boy's father, who is an organic chemist with a gambling debt, is being forced to make designer drugs for the owner of the casino that the father owes money to. But of course, this movie demonstrates Hauer's unique ability to handle himself with a sword while pretending to be blind. Now that's probably not an easy thing to do for any actor, but he seemed to managed quite well.
And then there's also the 1981 movie, "Nighthawks", where he portrays an international freelance terrorist known only as "Wulfgar", who commits bombings for different terrorist organizations without having a political agenda, he just does it simply for the money, although he does make announcements to international press releases after each bombings because he bringing attention to himself. And Hauer makes Wulfgar out to be a cold and ruthless individual when Wulfgar first kills some British police officers with a MAC-10 who come to his apartment to arrest him, and then he kills his colleague for leading the officers to Wulfgar in the first place. That, along with his performance in "Blind Fury", IMHO, takes real acting.

I really wanted to include Blind Fury (1989) but I tried to create poll as a representation of different sides of his career and biography and I never found where to fit this movie with such concept. As for Nighthawks (1981) I think I'll group it with Blade Runner (1981) as it was his first Hollywood role.
