Which of these films featuring an animal that is larger than normal is the best?

*Excludes instances where the animal is supernatural or a fictional type of creature (like Godzilla).
List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls099361266/

Suggestions welcome!!!!

FYC:

There are more Godzilla films you can add. I know there are more films, I just can't remember 'em right now. I'll let you know if I find more.

Btw, By that censor in your title you meant "f**king", then it should be after "Big" (That's a Big F**king Animal!)

I think that one movie by franchise is enough. In Japan, a lot of sequels to Godzilla has been made, not to mention that these kind of monsters are extremely popular there. I'm sure that we could fill 10 lists with Godzilla, Gamera and Ultraman's enemies.

cinephile,

Not all Godzilla movies feature the same (enemy) monster.

In case, you thought I was suggesting Godzilla (character). I am not.

Narnia already mentioned that she won't be listing any completely fictional character like Godzilla who had no existence in real life.

I suggested those because of other big monsters that look-alike some real-life creatures like Mothra.

This is off-topic and condescending.

A lot of Godzilla's enemy is based on an existing animal that was distorted, I'm certain that one could fill a list about these animals.

And even if you are excluding completely fictional animals, Godzilla is not the only Japanese animal/character. There are many many more. In Japan, especially in the 1950s and the 1960s a lot of these were created to compete with Godzilla.

I was planning on adding King of the Monsters because of Mothra.
I will also probably add a Gamera movie, just because.  :)

There is a solo Mothra movie, maybe that's a better option that its appearance with Godzilla?

Also, maybe you can add which is the giant animal in Harry Potter, I don't remember what it was.

Tremors are real animals? They were some kind of carnivorous worms if I can recall I'm not sure anything like that actually exists.

Good point,

I totally agree with you ED, you are 100% right.

But when people refer to an animal, they are often excluding human.

However, I hate to say that but at some point, we must privilege consistency. The fact that from the very beginning we messed up the limit and definitions of some subjects (like the decades) led to this result. If we were to change our way to proceed right now, it would only create confusion among voters.

We need to make a standard, and unfortunately, there are the results.

How do you know that those you deem lesser do not have souls?
Just because we cannot speak the language?
That is what's wrong with this world as it is now.
The ability to see beyond one narrow view based on one single book on a topic where their are multiple views on a theme. You are in the majority. Yes. But that does not discount the fact that you get to squash a valid suggestion based on your religious views. 40% of the rest of us do not view the world with those blinders on.

I'm with both of you on this, we are animals at the end of the day. We share DNA with animals like Chimps, have a lot of similarities with pigs, we even use them to grow organs for human transplant. Our genitals are the same as most mammals, we suckle, we eat, drink and digest like most animals. We are born, live, procreate, sleep and die just like animals. But I think we all know what M3T3K meant by giant animals.

May I ask please M3T3K? In your description you are excluding supernatural monsters, but you have a few in your list.

Ed: I do not have a narrow view.  A narrow view is thinking that we are no more than more-intelligent apes.  I even believe in a supernatural, which makes all things possible.  I am very open minded - I simply don't think that we are animals.  I don't know if animals have souls or not, but the fact is that humans are the more intelligent race.  Animals are smart, too, but in a different way.
We are like animals in that we are living things.  That doesn't prove anything.  Animals are a gift from God, but the bottom line is we are created in God's image, not a gorilla's image.

Boz: I don't think I do... do I?  :O  I admit I haven't seen every movie on the list, so help me out.  :)

Ed and M3T3K, nothing wrong in respecting each other's views. I'm an atheist and believe in evolution, but I would never argue against MST3K's opinion and belief, and although I may not agree with everything that is said, it doesn't hurt listening and being respectful. I have my own beliefs, but it doesn't mean I'm right. Just our personal opinions. But I am with MST3K in believing in the supernatural.

Just a few, Godzilla is a mutant bi-pedal iguana or something.
Gamara is a monster
Tremors monsters again

I can't remember giant animals in Harry Potter, Jungle Book or Goosebumps. I may be wrong.

But it is a good list. You've got me thinking, I've seen a few films with giant animals in over the years.

Just a few you may like to consider MST3K

Digby, the biggest dog in the world
Ticks

Here's a debate.
Jaws. Was Jaws larger than normal, or just a fully grown adult? Jaws if I remember right was female and females are bigger than males.

Giant squids in films. I think the film I'm thinking of is 20,000 leagues under the sea. Classic film, but again, was the squid a normal sized giant squid or just a colossal squid?

Thank you!  I respect everyone's beliefs; I am not really trying to sway anyone... just explaining why I believe what I believe.

I think Jaws was a bit bigger than normal, but not by much.  This is just for HUGE animals.  Godzilla is just on the list for Mothra.  I removed Tremors.
There was a giant grasshopper or something in Goosebumps, giant spiders on Harry Potter, and the king monkey in Jungle Book was giant.
