The Commitments made it in the British Film Institute Top 100... as for In the Name of the Father, I could have sworn I saw somewhere it was a British-Irish production, can't find the source though...

That was a tough one. Several titles on this list are not just my favorite '90s movies or my favorite British movies or even my favorite '90s British movies - they are my favorite movies period!

Really could have voted for any of these:
Trainspotting - Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete arseholes. It's a SHITE state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any fucking difference!

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Soap: Guns for show, knives for a pro.

In the Name of the Father - Gerry Conlon: What I remember most about my childhood is holding your hand. My wee hand in your big hand, and the smell of tobacco. I remember, I could smell the tobacco in the palm of your hand. When I want to feel happy, I try to remember the smell of tobacco.

Shallow Grave - David Stephens: Normally I don't usually meet people, unless I already know them.

Peter's Friends - Peter: Oh, how can I put this delicately? It's just that I'm not really in the vagina business.

But I went for The Commitments. Excellent music, great acting from so many amateurs, a nice message and a big favorite with my whole family, especially my dad, so mostly only went for war and racing films.
