'Great list of films and oh, wow, this is a tough choice. The list also serves as a resource because there are several that I haven't seen. I love 'Paris is Burning,' 'Tangerine,' 'Mulholland Drive,' and 'Dog Day Afternoon' and I'll go with 'Paris' or 'Tangerine.'

For me it's a tie between Brokeback Mountain and Death in Venice of the movies mentioned. However, I was looking in vain for my personal favorite, The Boys in the Band (1970)

I second that, when you think about it, it's probably the earliest instance of a mainstream movie dealing with transgender and it's dealt with as part of a plot in a rather matter-of-factly way, I liked it that Sonny never had to justify himself nor does Leon. I like the way Lumet treated a revolutionary subject as accessory to the plot and made it even more memorable that way, something as normal, complex, romantic, crazy and poignant as a true love between two human beings can get

I would dare to say that Dog Day Afternoon is my favorite on the list, but the one that best addresses the topic is Brokeback Mountain. I'd like to name one of my favorite: Milk (2008) A powerful story with an incredible performance by Sean Penn

Actually, you're making a pretty relevant distinction, are we supposed to vote for the best movie in general or the best movie to address the topic?

They simply picked the most famous and critically acclaimed movies that dealt with LGBTQ+ issues, that's all...
