The four time Oscar winner, Director Fred Zinnemann grew up wanting to be a violinist. Later in life while at the University of Vienna he decided to study law. While studying, he became interested in American film and decided that was what he wanted to do. Being a European he went to work in the 1930's there until he migrated to Hollywood in the early 1940's. He paid his dues directing many forgotten titles until striking gold with the Picture High Noon (1952), which won an Oscar for Best Picture and Best Leading Actor Award for it's star Gary Cooper. Fred would get a nomination for best director. This poll will list all his movies from 1952 and up. Which of these pictures do you believe was his very best?
