Once a giant in the motion picture industry RKO Radio Pictures was acquired by Aviation Pioneer Howard Hughes
in 1948 who then fired 300 employees he suspected of being communists.
This gutting of the studios staff ground to a halt the 30 or so annual
production capabilities to under 10 pictures a year. When Hughes grew
tired of shareholders concerns about mismanagement, he bought almost all
of them out at a cost of $24,000,000 and then almost immediately sold
the studio to the General Tire Company, who then proceeded to try and
pick up the pieces. But the end finally came for The General Tire
Company's tenure of the beleaguered Studio in 1957. But before all of
that upheaval took place, the studio did make some of the most beloved
pictures that are still cherished today by fans of all ages.

I'm saving that movie for my 75th birthday. That's when it'll be my first time watching!
I'm of the same opinion you both are.
They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
Hoping that there will be a remastered version and cinemascope TVs and a media platform that can produce a better picture than UHD in 11 years.
I have about 200 older titles that I will watch that I have not seen yet to celebrate my 75th.
:)
