He wasn't the 'Japanese John Wayne' or the 'Asian Clint Eastwood', he was simply Toshirô Mifune, so great an actor, so magnetic a presence, so virile a charisma that he was incomparable in the world and the history of cinema.
From his handsome young leading-man debut to his Samurai streak and finally his veteran days, the eternal partner of Akira Kurosawa became a specialist in roles that showed the most ambiguous sides of humanity, facing ethical dilemmas through bravery, calculations, spirit or fear in contemporary life or ancient Japan.
In each role, he's brought an intensity and a versatility that enriched the screen and broadened the human experience, entertaining generations of movie lovers and making him one of the greatest actors who ever lived. His roles have included Rashômon (1950), Shichinin no samurai (1954), Yôjinbô (1961), Tsubaki Sanjûrô (1962) and Akahige (1965).
In homage to the Japanese legend, which of these pictures of Toshiro Mifune is your favorite?

ElM,
It's puzzling why this thread disappeared. Unfortunately, Get Satisfaction occasionally loses track of threads.

Yes it was, especially since there was no reason whatsoever, not even a repeated word that could make it look like a SPAM. I'm glad it works now.

Please consider adding 'Red Sun' from 1971 in which Toshiro Mifune was joined by Charles Bronson, Alain Delon and Ursula Andress

Not to sound too picky about the pics you pick, but you have to make sure the face will cover most of the space... I'm trying to find the right picture to upload from "Duel in the Pacific", he looks great with the beard.

'Rashomon' or 'Kumonosu-jô'. I love them both.
What about Mr. Tatsuya Nakadai?
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0619938/
He was nearly as impressive as Toshiro Mifune.
My suggestion would be: 'Harakiri' (1962)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056058/
(Just if you wanna suggest a second one)

I'm partial to Mifune because I've seen all his movies with Kurosawa and I became a fan after watching 2 or 3 roles he played but you're right about Nakadai, he wasn't just talented but in his prime, he was handsome like the devil.

Hi Elmo. :D
Congratulations!
I don't want to bother you. The image of 'The Bushido Blade' is twice on the list.
I guess I'm gonna vote for 'The Seven Samurai'. He has a great face there! ;D

Thanks for noticing that, Breu.
ElM, please replace option #19 (assuming it still has zero votes) with another image and ask for a re-push.

Hi Elmo.
I guess you lost the last two posts. Just wanted to point out, that your poll has a doubeling of two images. The same image 'The Bushido Blade' is on option #8 and #19. :D
Is this wanted?

I didn't see that one yet but he certainly is handsome. And his face was so expressive. He had such a great presence on screen, too.

ElM,
Do you have all the images you need? Do you consider your poll suggestion ready?

Good Poll. I did vote for Seven Samuri, however, another excellent Toshiro Mifune movie directed by Akira Kurosawa that was not listed is High and Low (1963) in which Mr. Mifune plays a person named Kingo Gondo. That is a wonderful film that should be seen by film lovers everywhere. It's a timeless classic.

Thank you very much for trying to find a picture so that High and Low could have been included in the poll if a photograph of Toshiro Mifune in the movie had been located.
