Sadly, Anton Yelchin  left us too soon, but I'll always remember him falling victim for vampire Mia Wasikowska in Only Lovers Left Alive and Adam's (Tom Hiddleston) indignant comment: "You drank Ian!"

Ed,

I was not aware that Richard Marner was born in Russia.

My vote:

Technically Armin Mueller Stahl was too, but I left him out. He was born in occupied East Germany, prior to the occupation. His name came up in the search for Russia, which was odd. I was surprised at some of the names on the list myself.

Considering that we're talking about STARmeter there, which is not exactly a constant, I've expected an odd mixture of actors... And it is odd, but far less then what I've expected. Quite a few geniuses and great character actors ended up being in this list, including those with Russian ethnicity and nationality. I especially like Mischa Auer, an outstanding character actor who never ceased to give a great performance. I particularly remember him being practically the best thing about Corruption (1933), where he portrays a sympathetic villain Volkov.

Ed Jones (XLIX), that's a hard and interesting question to be honest: due to nature of USSR being bit of a hodge-podge with a few countries thrown in many Russian actors were born in other countries.

Anyhow, it depends. If we take into consideration actors who were born in Russia, there are quite a few actors around the world who were born in Russia and are now emerging to be something big, some of them are Russian, but quite a few reside in USA.

If we take into consideration nationality... Russia always had great actors, but many of them barely have a chance to shine, because castings are hard, so most are getting bit parts while shining in theater. Not that I'm against stage plays, but it's a bit of a shame when great actors leave only shards of their greatness on the screen, considering that nowadays we can preserve performances, something that a few centuries ago was virtually impossible.

Then there's actors of Russian descent like Sofia Vassilieva...

Dan, I wanna thank you so much for making this particular poll live. It answers a question I wanted the answer to. Does list interest correlate into poll interest. It was as I suspected. No. The poll has average to below average initial interest in early voting.
It helps me decide whether or not to abandon polls with low list visits. I will not from now on not give up on some poll suggestions. I'm convinced that it is almost Impossible to predict poll numbers based on list popularity.

Many of the actors are not household names. And some haven't worked in years. Wondering how they got so high up in the Starmeter respectively.
