Japans very versatile and most loved actor Toshirô Mifune, career started soon after the end of World War II. He worked in many landmark Movies there. Unfortunately he was not tapped by Hollywood however for a quarter of a century. His first U.S. Movie was Grand Prix (1966) starring James Garner. Mifune played the part of race car engineer Izo Yamura. Many other rolls followed along with his career in Japan. Which role in the U.S. do you best remember him for?

I know that this was a French production, but it was a hell of a good movie!

I remember him most from Spielberg's 1941 (1979).
