Here's a classic setup: an adventurer (be it a hero, a villain or a common thief) enters a secret lair which hides a grand treasure, or an artifact of great importance. But those riches are not unguarded.

Which of these 'treasure guardians' is the most interesting?

Suggestions are most welcome.

However, be aware that:

- traps (such as the boulder that chases Indiana Jones in the first film) are not eligible for this list. But if it's a man, a monster, a spirit, a robot, an animated statue, or whatever else - it is eligible.

- the guardian must have a purpose of protecting that treasure. A person or a monster who just happens to be at the treasure site at the same time as the hero, is not eligible.

Ah, the old Tomato/Tamato debate.

Thanks, I've fixed it.

I'm guessing you already know this because I think you're working on it as I write (I saw an image move from the last spot to the tenth slot) but, in case you don't, #10 doesn't have a caption like the others.

I love that you used a colon in your intro! (Here's a classic setup: an adventurer...) That I'm a grammar nerd is the reason for such strange enthusiasm, lol. It's just that so few people (not on this site but in general, including my students) use them correctly and when they're needed.

Being a grammar nerd has its disadvantages, of course, like annoyingly noticing tiny little things that few others would. In this case, your intro is written so well but there is one stray comma, lol (below in bold and underlined, as well).

...(be it a hero, a villain or a common thief) enters a secret lair which hides a grand treasure, or an artifact of great importance. But those riches are not unguarded.

Your guess is correct!

I must admit, I'm a ''comma junkie'', and I'm not even joking. What it means is, well, you know, that I like to put a lot of commas, even if there is no actual, grammatical need for them, and if a sentence doesn't requires any commas, then I'll find a way to make it needlessly long, complicated, and hard to follow, to be able to fill it with commas, all that, of course, in order satisfy my strange, rare, and kind of unhealthy obsession with that particular punctuation mark, like I did with this sentence you're reading at the very moment. :-P

In short, I removed it.

Hahaha. Lol, too, and all of that stuff. I love what you wrote: that's a great little piece of prose there. : )
