SUGGESTIONS???? ... Many beloved actors have had the misfortune of passing away during the run of many television shows over the years. Most shows chose to honor that actor and not recast the role. Some did.

For the ones that were not recast, which one character is your favorite from this list?

And any other limits. I've got a bunch to suggest but so far I'm not finding pics of them :( Before I did more searching, just want to know if there's any I should eliminate.

For example, here's one just because it's kinda of Navy.

I'll put it in if you get a picture "FROM" Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea!
And thatnks for sending me to that page.
His previous credit was on Bonanza, and I remembered that Dan Blocker passed away before filming ceased on the last year of the show.

rocky-o, the specific character written off as passing or never being re-cast because of the actors passing. Character could have gone away on Safari for example, never to return.

This is a smart move.

It is off subject but...

Smarter than keeping Leia alive in Star Wars. Seriously 54 sec in space, you need 90 sec to die in theory, but only 15 sec to lose consciousness. When you lose consciousness you can't use the force.

(Don' t tell me that The Force makes her survive because they reinvent the limits of The Force in every movie.)

Ed,

My vote:
Mister Hooper from 'Sesame Street'

I distinctly remember watching Big Bird's eulogy episode for Mister Hooper.

This may be borderline.

For your consideration:
Desperate Housewives (TV Series) Finishing the Hat (2012)

Kathryn Joosten as Karen McCluskey

Kathryn Joosten in Desperate Housewives 2004Scott Bakula Orson Bean Marcia Cross and Kathryn Joosten in Desperate Housewives 2004

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2269189/plotsummary

On her deathbed McCluskey listens to her record "Wonderful, Wonderful" and we see a montage: Ben and Renee dance at their reception, Julie giving birth, Tom and Lynette kissing and dancing at the reception and then Porter running in and telling them about Julie and rushing off to the hospital. Just as the baby is born, McCluskey dies. Bree gets a call and she and Trip run to McCluskey's house and comfort Roy and grieve. Gaby and Carlos dance with their girls.

Joosten died of lung cancer on the morning of June 2, 2012. Her death happened 20 days after the onscreen death of her character Karen McCluskey on the final episode of Desperate Housewives. The hit show ended its eight-year run on ABC last month with a series finale in which Joosten's character passed away.

Mike and Ed,

I remember Freddie Prinze (AKA Chico Rodriguez) passing while Chico and the Man (1974) was still in production.

This pic unfortunately isn't just of him, but remember his death as well. It was truly a sad tragedy.

Andy Hallet became very ill at the conclusion of 'Angel' wrapped in 2004. He was in the hospital off and on and really did not act, until he passed in 2009.

Until looking I didn't realize just how many passed while I watched. I'm guessing you might need to do some kind of cutting, but here's another suggestion.

I second Mrs. Wolowitz (AKA Carol Ann Susi). She was beloved by her fellow cast members. During the end of series special, they disclosed that the cast kept a picture of Carol Ann Susi on the refrigerator in Leonard and Penny's apartment.

Thanks again Jessica. I would have never added Carol Ann as I have never watched a single episode of BBT. It's on my binge bucket list however!

Oh, good old Ernie Pantusso. It's more than 34 years since Mr. Colasanto died.
But I still like him on screen.
