13. Escape from New York (1981)
Escape from Washington.
A wall is built around Washington when ALL politicians are deemed criminals.

Their actual idea of a third movie was even better: Escape from Earth.

I think I would have trouble filming the liftoff. I wonder how high a drone can fly with a camera attached?

Ed Jones (XLIX) it depends. As far as I know, filming with a drone requires a skilled pilot and a carefully planed reception (because you don't want that thing to loose control) and yet it can trip over something or smack into something even with best production values.

Still cheaper then many cranes. :)

That was a rhetorical question.
It's nearly impossible. A few hundred feet is it if that far.

Incredibles or Now You See Me.  I loved those movies!  NYSM is awesome!  Hopefully they will do a 3rd one of both.  In the next Incredibles, they should fight a really super villain, like a creature.

I know that there are no vacant places in the poll (although, to be fair, franchises that are fairly recent with successful releases and have WAY more chances for a third installment, such as Happy Death Day, Mamma Mia and Ralph could be trimmed), but there are so much of those, that I still can't post FYC:
Romancing the Stone (1984)
TRON (1982) (sequel fully repeated originals "a bit of a failure but massive cult following" situation, so talks of the threequel emerging are buzzing for years)
The Wicker Man (1973) (sadly, due to Robin Hardy's passing in 2016 a fully crowdfunded third installment will likely never happen)

A bit of trivia: some drafts for an unmade third part of Chinatown trilogy were recycled in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).

It's a complicated question;;;
Kill Bill didn't need a third part, the film was just so long it had to be made into a two-parter... but it can be a relevant option.
Some movies just had a second installment so it's too early to say "that never became trilogies", who can be sure about that in the case of Blade Runner or Mamma Mia!? You might as well add "Mary Poppins Returns" :)
Some shouldn't even have a sequel in the first place and the end result was so disastrous (Bruce Almighty, Basic Instinct...) it's a good thing they didn't make a trilogy...

There are a few viable options but I think my problem with the question is the following: good two-parters are so good they don't need a third film, and bad two-parters don't ask for a third film, so all it leaves is good two-parters but the second is too recent to assume there wouldn't be a third one.

Blade Runner and Mamma Mia erased. As for Kill Bill Tarantino himself told that he consider to make a third part, but he also said that he will only direct ten movies and since he is filming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that means there is room for one more movie. Logic says that this movie isn't going to be Kill Bill 3.

The poll is about two part movies not trilogies. Lord of the Rings and Hobbit are both trilogies. The are fit in here
