Which of these 2018 Spring blockbusters is your favorite?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls026694667/

*U.S. Domestic Grosses are as of May 8, 2018.

[A note to the admins: Should this poll be published, pleas wait until at least a couple of weeks after the spring window — March 22, 2018 to June 21, 2018 — so that likely blockbusters including Deadpool 2Solo: A Star Wars Story and Incredibles 2 have the time to enter the mix.]

Ranking may change.

Best time to make this list is the last week of June. You can get the final list and no more updates required.

Ranking will certainly change.. And I'll keep that timeframe in mind - for now I have requested that admins NOT publish this list until the end of the window we've stated above. Thanks DC.

My vote (and the likely winner):

1. No Distraction: No phone, computer, friend, family member, or someone who rings at the door. No temptation to pause the movie "just for a minute" and do something else. I'm afraid I'm prey to this behavior sometimes when watching movies at home, but in the theater, they have my absolute and full attention.

I manage to avoid the other distractions (i phone and popcorn people, nacho terrorists and coke slurpers) because I attend showings during unusual times or when the initial hype has ebbed away.

2. To be honest, a "disadvatange" of a large library of DVDs or recorded movies is when you can't decide which movie you want to see. The movie theater only has a limited range of choices, so you have to stick with it.

3. Seeing a movie when it's still fresh. You feel you're "in the discussion", and when you write a review you're part of a world-wide debate so to say. Of course, a good movie always stays relevant but it's at it most relevant at release.

4. Celluloid. You gotta be lucky to have a theater near you that projects actual film stock. But I think it's a difference even to the usual theater experience.

5. But it all boils down to, "is larger really larger?". For me, there is difference, the movie feels more alive (larger-than-life) but that's subjective.

I am also a DVD and Blu-Ray proponent though, for all the reasons you mentioned. At the end of the day, the DVD experience is more important than the theater experience, but I like to have both if possible.

I understand, I didn't quite say I divorced the theater, when "Deadpool" and "Creed" came out, I couldn't wait to watch them... and I remember until the early 2010s, IMDb was like a beacon to the movies to watch, I remember between December 2008 and January 2009, I saw "Milk", "Benjamin Button", "The Wrestler", "Gran Torino", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Rock'n'Rolla"  just to be part of the discussion, as you said, to give my two cents on the message boards...

But then I guess other things kept me busy and didn't make the theater a priority...

Might be just a thing with millenials but I find more and more people saying that they don't even know wheter theater experience worth it. I'd say it's a personal preference at that point, but I really love theatrical screenings: seeing how people react to certain scenes is sometimes just as pleasing as the movie itself.

Hold on, that's something I absolutely loooooove, but when I care about the people (which means watching movies with your buddies or your family) and also when I have already seen the film to anticipate their reaction, I mean... how can I see how people react if I'm reacting myself.

What you describe fits the DVD experience just as well as the theatres, believe me. I can see a film two times in a row if someone joins me the second time, watching the film with someone else is a totally different experience.

I like this debate --- I just hope that, in the grand scheme of things, the movie-going experience is always an option. As Alb put it, it's an experience that you just can't get anywhere else.

Nice one, wasn't a huge fan of it tbh. Personally, I liked the first film a lot better. Thanks for the vote!

This one sounded interesting... haven't seen it, but have heard some pretty solid things on it. What was it specifically that made it a favorite for you TMS?
