Hi Ed, 'good poll. 'Master and Commander' is listed twice. My vote: Either 'The General' or 'The French Lieutenant's Woman.'

General Hospital: not a military rank.

The Admiral: not a translation of the Korean title, it's just an English title.

Inspector George Gently: police rank, not military.

The Inspector General: not a military rank.

Lewis: police rank, not military.

The Last Detective: not a military rank.

Special Agent: not a military rank.

Private Practice: not a military rank.

DCI Banks: police rank, not military.

My point is these words are not used as ranks in those titles.

One could look at a dictionary, which makes the distinction between adjectives and nouns and their different meanings.

You are not addressing the question.
Why do you not understand the premise, when clearly everybody else does?
Please answer the question.

When your text says the titles contain military or law enforcement ranks, they should be ranks, not just words that can be ranks in other contexts.
