There should be a separate category for post production sound and design. Mixing. My designer will get a separate card but why not separate sound design credit here when it’s deserved.

Hi Migdia -
Thanks for your feedback. Credits are sometimes grouped in categories that don't accurately reflect how they are displayed and organized in film credits or production listings. Although, whenever possible, we try to follow standard industry conventions, our organization is also based on internal technical requirements, which in some cases necessitate grouping together credits for unrelated jobs.
Note that some of these categories are very narrow and only include credits that belong to a single specific profession (such as cinematographers, producers, editors, set decorators etc.). Others are more generic and may include a larger number of credits per film (such as art department, sound department, visual effects). All credits that don't belong to a specific list are grouped into a generic miscellaneous crew section.
Our long term plan is to create more specific lists and move credits across them; however, since this is dictated by our internal data management priorities, we can't predict exactly how or when this will take place.

Thanks for your response, Michelle. It makes no sense to group different film responsibilities under generic categories such as “sound department” because it ultimately discredits and disincentivices the sound profession. The film industry is a tough nut to crack for anyone who is not connected to it through family relations and in particular for those in specialized technical fields. IMDb should be at the vanguard of the industry making it easier to access and understand that actors don’t make the movies, don’t make it up as they go along in a vacuum and that the music and sounds you hear don’t emanate from thin air” .

Thanks for your additional feedback on our credit categorization. Unfortunately, as I mentioned above I don't have a time-frame to share with you on when any changes will be made regarding this, however our intention is to create more specific list categorization in the future.
