Hello. Apparently some of our posts to this forum are visible to the public on Google for people who are not even signed into IMDb, which is a privacy violation. How is this possible? Please advise. Thank you.

I'm aware it's public within IMDb and there's nothing secret in my posts. However then why the registration and need to log in at all?

When I search my IMDB profile by typing "thenolanfan", the first result is my IMDB Profile even when I'm using a VPN.
Can anybody (who doesn't google my username frequently) check if I'm actually that popular? (I doubt it)

Again, I'm aware posts are public WITHIN IMDb...the above is not clear. If they are public to everyone within and outside of IMDb, then that should be stated as such. There is a difference.

Hi lisray,
IMDb is not the only Get Satisfaction community.
Everything posted to Get Satisfaction is available via a Google, Bing and many other search engines. What you post is also sent via email to anyone subscribing to a Get Satisfaction community. You should exercise caution in posting to Get Satisfaction anything that you consider private.

Seems perfectly clear to me. "Visible to everyone"
Nowhere does it say the information is only public within IMDb, nowhere does the phrasing imply a limit on who has access. Everyone means everyone. You have imagined a limitation which doesn't exist.
