I've been in over 100 magazines and they were all listed on my IMDB page under press. It's been a while, but I went to go look for it and it's not there. What could have happened to it?

Spice: See http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0818454/publicity. There aren't 100 entries there, but there are 1 interview, 10 articles, 26 pictorials, and 3 magazine cover photos. That page is linked from your main page under "Publicity Listings".

If there are other entries missing there, probably the best thing to do would be to re-submit them if you still have those magazines available to you.

I hope this helps.

One thing I do have a question about....Why can I hide it on IMDB PRO but not on regular IMDB? Most folks I know use PRO but it does bother me because I'm up for a couple of movies right now where I'm suppose to be in my 50's and even though I can still kick ass like a 30 year old, producers don't have such a great imagination when they see your age or birth date!

IMDb does not remove valid data. The assumption is that the business professionals should be using the Pro pages, not the default, and this allows you to hide it from the casting agents/producers who are considering you.

I believe the other assumption is that if they are unethical and would deliberately go to the base page to see it, they are likely to search it out in other places.

Note: I am not staff, just a user, but this is what I believe is the case, piecing together the many bits and pieces that I have been told over the years.

Well, David, you know what ASSUMING means!!! I've been in this business for 35 years and outside of acting, stunting, stunt coordinating and producing, I have to cast talent all the time. I'm a guilty of going back and forth to achieve what I need to get someone hired or not!  Who's ever making the professional decisions over there has NEVER been on an audition or fought for a part based off what is on their IMDB page.  I realize you aren't staff but I really can't thank you enough for all your help!

Perhaps a little history of IMDb will help.

IMDb was originally begun by a group of movie fans to create a database of on-screen credits, with some additional data about both the films and the film-makers. More people joined in to add to/correct the data, and the database grew quickly. After several years it became so successful, with so much data and so many views that there was difficulty in paying for bandwidth and storage.

At this point Amazon bought the company and made it a subsidiary, hosting it on their own servers. They agreed that they would allow IMDb freedom to maintain the database as they saw fit. This purchase allowed IMDb to continue to pay a small staff to maintain the database.

It was shortly after this that the professionals discovered just how much data IMDb had, and they started to use it for their own purposes. IMDb created the Pro pages and other professional features for them and charged for access to these services and have added more services, such as Casting; however, its primary purpose is still to provide information on Movies (and TV Series, Videos, and Video games and the people who make them) for the fan, not for the professional.

So, you should not expect the site - particularly the non-Pro side - to be set up for the benefit of the profession. Sorry, but that is just the way it is.

P.S.: I personally detest a lot of the choices that they made on Pro, and I also think they made some errors from the view of a Professional.

For example, I think choosing not to provide a link to the separate Resume page was a serious error. They seem to have decided that since they copy the Resume page data into the Pro pages, the link is not necessary, but I think that if I were an actor who had spent a lot of time setting up the Resume page in the 'standard' format, and is paying for Pro to maintain it, I would be extremely annoyed that the Casting people cannot link to it easily from Pro.

Spice: There are a couple of issues here.

I was able to find the page at http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0818454/publicity based on the discussion on IMDb's Contributors Help board at http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/nest/253363251 (which I started in order to find out for you whether the Pro site still had publicity pages).

The person who advised me there was Steve Crook, who is a top contributor. My guess is that he just changed the "www" in a URL to "pro" and thus found the publicity page on Pro.

However, as another top contributor, pbn, pointed out in that thread, and yet another top contributor, DavidAH_Ca, pointed out here, there isn't actually any link from an IMDbPro page to the person's publicity page. That's what David meant when he wrote above, "The Publicity page still does exist, but [that] appears to be an oversight because there is no link to it that I can find." It exists, but it isn't linked anywhere, apparently.

I am going to start a new, separate "Idea" thread here on this board to request that the publicity pages be linked from IMDbPro again. If you see that thread, please make sure to click "Like" to support it.

Hey Guys,
Hope all is well with ya!  So, you helped me so much last time and I can't find out how to ask this next question, so I'm just coming back here to submit my next problem in hopes ya all can help me.

So, I have this film short my husband, Gregory Crosby, and I produced and I starred in called, DUKE. We've already won BEST FILM SHORTS festival and I'd like to put up our "Behind the scenes" Promo reel on the page of DUKE - https://pro-labs.imdb.com/title/tt5192158

PROMO - http://pro.imdb.com/video/user/vi1483584793?ref_=_vid

I've tried to do it through WithoutABox, but it keeps wanting to put it up on my personal page, Spice Williams-Crosby (https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm0818454?ref_=tt_nv_usr_prof) where I uploaded thinking I'd be able to assign it to my DUKE page.

I'd also like to post that we have won 1 award and are in over 12 festivals. So, if we win any other awards, I'd like to be able to post those. When I go to AWARDS, it takes me to an Update page that says you may report errors and omissions on this page to the IMDb database managers. So, I'm lost again. Could IMDB be any more confusing???

I can't find out how to do this. Can you help me?
Thanks in advance,
Lx,
Spice

Spice: I used to be able to advise people about how to get a video linked to the title to which it pertains. But looking at http://www.imdb.com/video/user/vi1483584793, I don't see any way of submitting the title (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5192158/) to which the video should be linked.

So most likely we will have to wait for an IMDb staffer to see this thread and help out.

Regarding awards, if you have any awards or nominations to list, they can be submitted only by starting from the page for the award event -- not by starting from the page from the film or the person who won. You can find the list of events currently recognized by IMDb at http://www.imdb.com/event/all.

I hope this helps.

Hey Sweetheart!
Thanks so much for your reply! I'll go check out that link for the awards. That is a very big help. How long do you think it will take for an IMDB Staffer to see this request?

Hi Spice -

I checked the Video link you mentioned: http://www.imdb.com/video/user/vi1483584793 , but observed that the Video has since been deleted.

If there is still a video that you uploaded that needs to be linked, can you check again and confirm the Video link?

Hi Michelle,
Thanks so much for your reply! Yes, in trying to find a way to upload my promo video, I felt it necessary to delete and start over. Now, I found on the EDIT page a way to upload video clips. I got a response back from IMDB saying what I've posted below.  I'm hoping that will have solved my issue. Can you tell me how long this will talk to have our video up on our film page, DUKE?

Thank you for your contribution to IMDb. The information you have supplied is being processed by our team. We aim to process contributions as quickly as possible, our time to publication changes based on the type of data you are contributing. You can find more details on our processing times page.

Unfortunately, this will not actually add the video to the Title; instead it adds a link to the Youtube page on the Duke (2016) External Sites page. In fact, it appears that the link is already added there.

Videos cannot be added to the Title page by using the Edit page button. I believe all videos must be added via WaB.

Ok....sooooo, how does one put up a trailer or promo video on the page where the film is?  As I am one of the producers, I should be able to upload my promo video.

Well, guys, I just went to my DUKE page and my Promo is up! Not sure what worked, but I'm very grateful for all your help.

Now, if you can just tell me why I can't make my latest demo reel my primary video when I specified it to be, I'd be ever so grateful.  You can see that I set my latest demo reel 2016 (3:41) as primary but the one that's on my front page is my old demo reel 2015 (3:53).  https://contribute.imdb.com/video/list?ref_=nm_nv_mp_dreel

Hello Spice,

I've removed the primary selection from both videos, as this may be the reason the most recent video was not moved to the primary spot. Can you please log in and select the primary designation once more?

Please let us know if the demo reel does not move to the primary spot within 24 hours.

Hey Trevor,
Thanks for getting back to me! So, I did what you said to do in following up your instructions. How long will it take before I will see the change?
Thanks again,
Spice
