Problems posting a synopsis

I want to add a synopsis for Waterhole #3, which does not have one. But the "edit page" does not produce "synopsis," only "plot summary" and "plot overview." When I click "add synopsis" I am redirected to the synopsis guidelines, but not to an area where I can upload my synopsis, so I used "plot summary" and "plot overview, but my piece was "Too long." My synopsis is comparable in length to the "Matrix" example. Nowhere do the guidelines state a maximum length. My synopsis is long because I include all of the lyrics to "The Ballad of Waterhole #3," a valuable service for fans of the movie. IMDb also objects to spellings in which the "g" in "ing" is dropped, but no one in the movie uses the "g" and the "quotes" sections includes dialogue in which the "g's" are dropped. I spent 3 days meticulous preparing the synopsis and want to post it.

On the main page for The Waterhole http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062477/combined, you will see a heading that says PLOT.  There is a link there to Add Synopsis which will take you to the page where you can enter your synopsis.

Thanks, but that did not work. Once again, clicking "Add Synopsis" redirects to synopsis guidelines; "Plot" -- "Edit This Page" provides drop-down menus only for "Plot Summary" and "Plot Outline." I should be getting a wiki, but I am not.

Hi Lewis,

Please use this direct link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062477/synopsis

If you'd like to add a synopsis to any other title, LuvsToResearch's directions are spot on.

Please let us know if you're still experiencing issues adding the synopsis.

Hi Trevor. Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, your suggestion did not work. I was directed again to the "Add synopsis" page for "Waterhole #3," but when I click on "Add Synopsis" I am redirected to the "Synopsis Editing Policies" page; when I click on "Edit" I am also redirected to the "Synopsis Editing Policies."  Here is a link to two versions of the synopsis--the first with the g's dropped, and the second with all --ing words corrected.  http://engl40705070.blogspot.com/2015/01/synopsis-for-waterhole-3.html?zx=d62906ed1682ea60

Hi Lewis,

I'm sorry to hear you're still having issues. I am unable to access the link as the blog is set to private. Is there another service you can use to share your screen grab?

I solved the problem and posted the synopsis. The issue was that I had not given by credit card to "authenticate" my status. Once I did, I was able to post. Sorry about the link--it is to a blog from a college course; I did not realize the access was private.

And now the question of whether or not authentication is required for posting reviews has been resolved! Thank you so much for posting the solution!

... include all of the lyrics to "The Ballad of Waterhole #3," ...
Just to satisfy my curiosity:
Do IMDb policies allow for inclusion of song lyrics in a synopsis?

Also just to satisfy my curiosity:
If it were known whether the lyrics in question were copyrighted,
what IMDb policies would apply in that case?

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, I don't know anything, and I'm just asking.

Any song published in 1967 (or for that matter, the 1950s, 1940s, 1930s, and much of the 1920s) can be assumed to be in copyright in the United States. Even if a portion of the song lyrics could be used in a synopsis, I doubt that IMDb would allow the entire lyric of a song to be included due to copyright concerns.

This is not a proper sentence.

Why would quoting lyrics be different from quoting dialogue, or, for that matter clips or stills?

I've loved the lyrics since I was a 14 year boy watching this movie four times one Saturday afternoon in 1967--at 1:00, 4:00, 7:00 and 10:00--with Goldberg Peanut chews for dinner. What got me started writing the synopsis was my desire to have the full lyrics (that I have since learned are available online).

The movie, criticized for not being "PC," is actually a satiric commentary on sexist attitudes.

Music publishers can often be hard-nosed about granting permission to reprint song lyrics. And since song lyrics tend to be much shorter than screenplays, a quotation of, say, 30 words of a song lyric could be a substantial portion of the song, whereas quoting 30 words of a screenplay would barely scratch the surface.

Regarding clips or stills, nobody can submit those to IMDb unless they are authorized to do so anyway. Fans aren't allowed to submit them, specifically due to IMDb's concerns about copyright.
