Production Coordinator -- Production Manager or Miscellaneous Crew?

The job of "Production Coordinator" for a long time belonged in the "Miscellaneous Crew" section where it has over 379,000 credit listings. However, it is also showing up in the "Production Manager" section where it has over 10,100 listings.

Which one is the proper place?

Did the job shift to the Production Manager section when it was cleaved from the Misc Crew, or are the credits there bad info?

Hi Katwayne -

The proper category section for a 'Production Coordinator' credit is under 'Miscellaneous Crew'.  If you are seeing these credits listed under 'Production Manager' section, these are incorrect, if you post some examples here of where you are seeing these credits our staff can take a look and update them accordingly.

I've run into this same confusion also.  I think a big part of what is causing this is that "production coordinator" has actually been made a drop-down option in the Production Manager section.  If "production coordinator" credits should not go in that section, then the role should not be one of the drop-down options, which will lead people to choose it incorrectly.

I don't know for sure but I'd guess those drop-downs are solely generated by numbers of entries in that category, right or wrong.

I agree with Vincent. It’s a bit confusing why ”Production coordinator" is included in a drop-down option in the Production Manager section - even when the ”correct” place seems to be Misc Department. One of those things that should be made more clear (and hopefully move all these credits under the same category).

May I ask why those credits could not remain under the "Production Management" category? Doesn't a Production Coordinator - per definition - manage the day-to-day aspects of a production?

I'm honestly baffled by this categorization and would love to hear the reasoning behind it (if there is any). I've elaborated my doubts more eloquently in THIS POST, if you have time to read it and -hopefully- reply.
