I wanted to make a review but every time I tried to submit it, it won't let me because it contains prohibited words.

Review:
Now before I began my review, please respect my opinions if you like or don't like the show. But this does not give you the right to spam votes. Please note that this review may contains spoilers. I've seen a lot of reviews on this show but mostly it is biased and didn't have much information.

Have you heard of the term "cult cartoon"? If not let me explain this to you. A cult cartoon is when a cartoon is so bad but it gained a lot of fans. This show is one of many shows that gained a cult following after a flop.

Let me tell you the backstory behind this show. Back in 2005, YTV held a competition called Funpak in which several shorts are to be turned into a full series. Manly Bee was chosen as the winner with Sidekick being a runner-up. But why did Nelvana and YTV choose Sidekick instead of the Manly Bee? Nelvana and YTV had combined Manly Bee and the shorts of the same name (the runner-up) together to create a show known as Sidekick.

Sidekick is about 13-year-old Eric who wants to be Maxum Man's sidekick with his best friends Trevor (age 14), Vana (age 12) and Kitty (age 11). They must go to Sidekick Academy in order to become full-pledged sidekicks. It's take a look at the issue I had with the show. Whenever, I said I "didn't like the show" that was putting it lightly.

First, it's mean-spirited. Eric and Kitty had been targeted by other characters like Vana and Pamplemoose. Worst thing about this is the controversial ending to the show's final episode in which Eric was beaten up by everyone after he burn the degrees for the graduating sidekick (according to the fans). Second, the sound effects and music are just comprised of stock sounds and music, Third, it has extreme toilet humour (a lot) mostly by Trevor himself. Third, is the unsolved clues such as Maxum Man's disappearance and Kitty's real parents (or her family). Fourth and the most biggest problem of them all is the characters themselves. These guys are the worst things ever. Don't get me wrong, I can't say that all characters are hose who don't care. Some characters like Kitty and Mandy are good characters, they care about each other and are very smart along the way either by helping each other with very good advises. Other characters are way beyond the boundaries of a good character, they don't care about each other, acting very rude and do nothing but harm. You get a ridiculous amount of time seeing others acting like they don't care about the show's good characters. It doesn't help that they seem so heartless not even giving half a shit as they doing just bashing the good characters through the show turning Mickey Mouse into The Boy Who Cried Wolf. They aren't superhero/supervillian anymore, they are just wannabes. I really want these guys to care about each other in order to feel a good superhero experience and to make a enjoyable show. Unfortunately after watching 46 episodes and these problems kept ongoing to the point where I pressed the off button on my remote and I never finished watching the whole show since.

The good things about this show is that it had good concept, decent animation, good character/background designs and the cast. The concept for the show as a superhero show is great, the animation looks good and tolerable, good designs and a lot of cast which some of you may recognize from other shows like Total Drama, 6teen and Student Bodies (a show which you should check out if you are curious to know what that is). This is like when you have a cast Power Rangers on Breaking Bad. The animation is not bad as it is similar to Total Drama and Grojband. The character and the background designs is good too. When you look at the designs, it will remind you of Total Drama and Grojband. This is because Sidekick is made by the same person named Todd Kauffman.

I hope you realized that as I went into the show wanting to like it, I left very disappointed for reason this makes me feel like a legitimate but there are some moments and things that are good. I really hoped that he revival or the reboot, will be even good that the actual show did.

Is it bad or good? I say it's bad but not too bad and good but not too good. It's just so-so. When I research the show, the show's production team worked hard on this show for 5 years without being too mean-spirited and too gross but after many efforts, the show with a good concept was ruined by the mean-spiritedness and gross humour although they did pretty good job with the cast, the animation and the designs.

If this is revived or have a reboot, they must improve the things the show has. I wanted a much darker reboot like Samurai Jack did but without the humor and mean-spiritedness. I wanted a reboot that will make the characters likable again and have their own dark backstories.

I'm giving this a 5/10 stars because it's disappointed but it has some good parts like the animation and designs. It really needs to deserve a cult following similar to how the MST3K movie the Final Sacifice did with low ratings but with a growing fanbase.

TLDR; Get your complaint down to a comprehensible paragraph and maybe someone will care.

Step: My guess is that you would be able to submit this review if you had the following sentence instead: "It doesn't help that they seem so heartless not even giving half a darn as they doing just bashing the good characters through the show turning Mickey Mouse into The Boy Who Cried Wolf."
