We are now approximately one-sixth of the way through the 21st century, and thousands of movies have already been released. But only a small percentage of them make it to IMDB's TOP 250.

On 03/05/18, this is the list of movies on TOP 250 by year.

Which year of 21st century has the best films on TOP 250?

This reminds me of one thing, in May 2019, I'll reach a point where I would have lived as many days in the 20th than the 21st century, I guess some already did it, and for others it'll take a few years more.

I hit the pre-2000 and post-2000 milestone last year in May, of course it's always the same day (as many days passed after December 31 as the number of days between December 31 and the last birthday) yeah I'm a math nerd but I guess I can say that I have lived more days whose year started with 20- than 19-.

Not born in May, here's a simple example

If someone is born December 28, 1990
The number of days he lived before 2000 is:

2 days + n(1991-1999)

Then you apply the symmetry:

n(2000-2008) + 2 days

So the milestone date will be January 2, 2009

The point is that you don't even have to count the number of days during the complete years you lived, just how many days between your day of birth and December 31 of the same year and when you get that number, you try to get to it by starting with January 1st.

so I wasn't born in May but in August (early August makes late May in reverse), of course if you're born in the late month of June, then your milestone date will always be closer to your birthday.

I must be crazy myself, I love to do these pointless mental calculations, like how many days did I live, when was the half of my life, the third. Some people count the sheep, I do date maths.

Very interesting idea for a poll and a tough choice between 2001 and 2011, although in both cases mainly not for the movies featured...

Thank you. 2001 seems way better than 2011.

My vote 2017.  Movies like Thelma, my favourite movie 2017,   Atomic Blonde, John Wick II, Wonder Woman, Thor: Ragnarok or The Nile Hilton Incident.  Even Mother was interesting.

Yeah, but the list if for the movies that are part of IMDb's TOP 250.

Deadpool 2 entered the list, in case you want to add it to the 2018 option.

Tangerines left the list.

You seem to be missing The Wolf of Wall Street from 2013.

It's a little unfair to 2018, because the year still runs. So I voted for 2010! :)
