A saga is a dramatic narrative of legendary figures and connected events, that is often lengthy, detailed and complicated. The 'Star Wars' Skywalker Saga certainly qualifies as a nine movie chapter series grouped into three film trilogies with each centering on a different generation of the Force-sensitive Skywalker family.

The entire saga unfolds over a seventy-five year timeline of events, compressed into a combined cinematic running time of 20 hours and 25 minutes. The film series took nearly five decades to produce from the first outline of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in January 1973 to the final cut of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. It is scary to think it is only a tiny fragment of the full story. A full accounting of the Star Wars media universe by Swiss researchers revealed a whopping 21,647 characters in 640 different communities on 294 planets spanning some 36,000 years of story line.

I am still making my mind up, but as of now would likely concur. It is interesting that four of the nine chapters were rated in the 50s by critics. These middling ratings to me seem more about delivering on high expectations and less about the actual quality of the movies.
