Disney's new streaming media service, Disney+ will launch November 12, 2019 and with it the first of many new "Star Wars" episodic series.
Episodes will debut on that date of The Mandalorian (2019) starring Pedro Pascal,
a series that chronicles the adventures of an as yet unidentified
Mandalorian warrior. DisneyPlus' next new franchise series, an Untitled Star Wars Cassian Andor series stars Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk
as Cassian Andor and K-2SO plans to premiere in 2021. The spy thriller
streaming series reprises characters from the 'Star Wars' movie, Rogue One (2016). Another "Star Wars" series seemingly destined for Disney+ will be a live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi mini-series with Ewan McGregor
reprising his role. While not official, the series is described as more
likely to happen than not by industry insiders. The dual cornerstones
of Disney's on-going strategy for Disney+ is to mine content from the
'Star Wars' and 'Marvel' franchises to drive and maintain subscriber
growth for the dedicated streaming service.
