In 2019, the Best Picture race is dominated by three movies, A Star Is
Born (2018) Green Book (2018), and Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) that focus
on the performance or creation of music.

I realized when I made this suggestion PS: Best Picture Oscar Genre Diversity that a lot categories get overlooked, even though I found them to be interesting. Plus, the focus always seems to be on winners and not nominees, On average, one IMDb poll has been published a year focusing on Oscar Best Picture nominees. Oscar Best Picture Nominee Genre Polls Family Movies : Foreign-Language Movies : Blockbuster Movies : Horror Movies Most likely, because they are not easily searchable and a lot more work to create.
Also, hindsight is 20/20, but I noticed an error in your live poll. The R-rated Little Miss Sunshine probably doesn't qualify as a "family" film on your poll, Poll: Favorite Family film nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. Since R-rated movies exclude those under the age of 17, it is hard to make the case. In my opinion, a family movie is defined as any movie that contains children or relates to them in the context of home and family, as well as, being either G-rated or PG-rated. I would have posted a comment, but the link was dead.

The film deals with death like any Disney/Pixar movie and the aftermath of the grandfather's death is treated rather humorously, as for the "sexy" dance, I can't believe those who came with that so patronizing rating missed the point almost comically, the whole thing is about Olive not realizing what she does and to some degree, her innocence is preserved and the 'raunchiness' of the dance is downplayed by the fact that she's joined by the whole family so they all do the same moves and they all immediately lose their impact, it becomes funny instead of shocking.
Yet it's true that what the film does brilliantly is commenting on the danger of underage over-sexualization through beauty pageants, so it's crazy to think that these contests exist and are accessible to children while a film like "Little Miss Sunshine" is not. I understand that technically speaking, it's not a "Family" film but for me, it's one of the best family movies of the last 20 years.
